Abstract:
A dairy product is described that is suitable for frothing by mechanical treatment and that, in addition to the customary milk components, contains 0.3 - 2.0 % (m/m) hydrolysed milk protein. The hydrolysed milk protein is, in particular, an enzymatically hydrolysed casein with a degree of hydrolysis of 2 - 20 %. The dairy product can be beaten by mechanical means or using a propellant gas to give a froth that is very suitable as milk froth for cappuccino and similar drinks.
Abstract:
Anode (1) for an electrochemical cell and method for the production thereof. This anode consists of a mixture of electron- and ion-conducting particles. The ion-conducting particles consist of oxides. The anode is made up in such a way that that part (3) of anode located close to the electrolyte (2) comprises small oxygen-ion-conducting particles, whilst the part (4) located closer to the current collector comprises coarser oxide particles. By this means it is possible to provide for optimum adaptation to the various requirements which are imposed in respect of the behaviour of the anode located at the electrolyte or at the current collector (6).
Abstract:
Duplex printing apparatus for printing on two sides of a sheet, the apparatus comprising: an impression roller on which the sheet is held during printing; an imager which prints an image on a first side of the sheet while it is being held on the impression roller; and a sheet inverter which removes the sheet from the impression roller, inverts the sheet and returns it to the impression roller for printing on a second side of the sheet by the imager, wherein the sheet is held on said impression roller referenced to a first edge thereof during the printing of the first side thereof and is also held on the impression roller referenced to said first edge during printing of the second side thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for the preparation of starch particles in a two-phase system, which method comprises at least the following steps: a) a preparation of a first phase comprising a dispersion of starch in water; b) preparation of a dispersion or emulsion of the first phase in a second liquid phase, with the proviso that the second phase is not water; c) cross-linking of the starch present in the first phase; d) separating the starch particles thus formed. According to a first aspect of the invention the second phase consists of a hydrophobic liquid and step b) consists in forming an oil-in-water emulsion, which is then inverted to a water-in-oil emulsion. According to a second aspect of the invention, the second phase consists of a water-miscible non-solvent for starch. Starch particles of very small particles size can be produced in a controlled manner by means of this method.
Abstract:
A voice prosthesis (1) intended to be positioned in an opening in the wall (2) between the oesophagus (3) and the trachea (4) the trachea (4) opening out in the throat via an orifice (5), comprises a tubular body (6), which is provided with an internal through-cavity (13) and at both ends has external widened sections (8, 9) for holding the prosthesis with respect to the wall section adjoining the opening, as well as a valve body (12) for closing off the through-cavity (13). The external surface of the tubular body (6), and/or the adjoining surfaces of the widened sections (8, 9) comprises/comprise local elevations (15) and/or recesses for sealing the prosthesis with respect to the wall section adjoining the opening.
Abstract:
A lubrication system for mutually displaceable bodies of a mechanical device, comprises a porous element and a lubricating liquid (11) comprising dispersed particles (12), the size of the pores (10) of the porous element, and the size of the particles (12) being selected such that the pores (10) of the porous element become blocked by the particles contained in the lubricant liquid film (11) in the area of contact of said porous element with one of the bodies.
Abstract:
This invention provides a method to aerate a carbohydrate containing food product. The method is characterised by the use of a vegetable protein that is hydrolysed under alkali conditions as whipping agent. More in particular the invention is related to a method for aerating carbohydrate containing food products by using a vegetable protein hydrolysate as whipping agent characterised in that the whipping agent is obtained by converting the vegetable protein by hydrolysis in an aqueous solution with a pH of at least 10 to a peptide product having an average chain length in the range of 5-20 amino acids and a free amino acid level less than 15 wt.% of the total protein derived material.
Abstract:
An actuator comprises a housing (1) accommodating a screw mechanism (2) and a drive comprising a motor (3), said screw mechanism comprising a nut (4) and a screw (5) one of which is rotatably supported with respect to the housing, such that upon relative rotation of the nut and the screw a linear movement of one said nut and screw is obtained. At least a rotatable component of the drive, e.g. the rotor (19) of the motor, is rotatably supported on the screw which is rotatably supported with respect to the housing.
