    Abstract: The exemplary embodiments herein provide an electronic display assembly having an electronic display surrounded by a front panel and a housing. An ingestion gap may be placed near a portion of the perimeter of the front panel while an exhaustion gap may be placed near an opposing portion of the perimeter of the front panel. A buffer zone may be defined between the ingestion gap and the exhaustion gap. A fan may be positioned to draw open loop fluid into the ingestion gap, through a channel behind the electronic display, and out of the exhaustion gap. This fan may also draw open loop fluid through an optional heat exchanger. A circulating fan may force circulating air through an optional heat exchanger.

    Abstract: Exemplary embodiment disclosed herein provide a point-of-sale advertising system for use with a display case having a front glass sheet positioned in front of a cavity for accepting goods, the system containing a transparent LCD positioned behind the front glass sheet, and a plurality of LEDs positioned adjacent to one pair of opposing edges of the LCD and arranged so that light which is emitted from the LEDs is directed backwards towards the cavity. Further embodiments may also contain a door assembly and frame surrounding the front glass sheet and LCD, a switch positioned to determine when the door assembly is open or closed, and electrical circuitry adapted to turn off the LEDs when the door is open and turn on the LEDs when the door is closed.

    Abstract: An expanded heat sink for transferring heat from an electronic display component to a path of cooling air is disclosed. A continuous sheet may define a series of channels where the cooling air is blown through the channels and along the continuous sheet. When viewed along the path of the cooling air and oriented horizontally, the continuous sheet may define a series of four-sided polygons having top, bottom, left side, and right side portions where either the top or bottom portions are absent from each polygon. The absent top portions may be supplied by a front plate or the rear portion of an electronic display. The absent bottom portions maybe supplied by a rear plate. One or more components of the electronic display may be placed in thermal communication with the sheet and/or front/rear plates to transfer heat from the components to the cooling air.

    Abstract: A system for cooling an electronic image assembly. One embodiment of the system contains a plurality of channels place behind the electronic image assembly and preferably in conductive thermal communication with the image assembly. Ambient gas is ingested into the display housing and directed to a manifold which distributes the ambient gas to the plurality of channels. Another embodiment of the system uses a heat exchanger with an internal fan assembly. Circulating gas may also be used to cool a front portion of the electronic image assembly or any other internal cavity of the electronic display housing. The circulating gas may be drawn through a heat exchanger so that heat may be transferred to an ambient gas. The heat exchanger may have an internal fan assembly for drawing ambient air through the heat exchanger and exhausting it out of the display housing.

    Abstract: A system and method for distributing a plurality of unique streams of video data. Each stream of video data may be encoded with a unique identifier and each receiver may be associated with one of the unique identifiers. The streams of video data may be multiplexed onto a single cable and distributed to the receivers using various networking techniques. A receiver may decode only the video stream for which it has been previously associated with. Once decoded the video stream may be displayed by an electronic display. The streams of video data may be in different resolutions and/or different frame rates from one another. The network may be in two-way communication with the internet so that a receiver's association with a particular stream of video data can be changed remotely.
