In the method, the material to be signed, which comprises a form, its identifier, shared information, and/or essential information added to it, is transferred to the mobile station, a first hash code (H1) is computed from the material to be signed, the hash code is added to the material for transfer into the mobile station, the material transferred into the mobile station is signed digitally by means of the mobile station and the authenticity of the signed and transferred material is verified by comparing the signed hash code with the hash code computed from the material before the signature. Thanks to the invention, a mobile station can be safely used for digital signature in various applications.

The invention is utilized for calculation of continuous location information of a digital cellular phone or any other location device based on the cellular phone in the transmitter itself in the same way, as the GPS-location system (Global Positioning System) terminal device is used. According to the invention it is received from the cellular phone system a location information for the base station, which information is obtainable also in inner spaces and in corresponding closed spaces, and the location is determined by the location device integrated to the mobile station. The location device integrated to the mobile station and utilizing the mobile station network does not influence significantly the readiness times of the present cellular phones.

Moreover, the invention relates to a system for changing a subscriber profile on the basis of the identity of the base station serving the terminal equipment in a mobile communication network. According to the present invention, an extra identity of a permanent nature is created for each base station, and this identity is sent by the base station to the subscribers in its area. Changing the subscriber profile on the basis of subscriber movements is accomplished flexibly and considerably more easily and at a lower cost than before.

The present invention relates to telecommunication systems. The object of the invention is to disclose a method and system for the utilization of applications stored on a subscriber identity module (SIM) and for secure treatment of the associated information in a telecommunication system. In the method, the keys required for encryption and/or decryption and/or signature are saved to the subscriber identity module (SIM), in a space (3) to which access is only allowed to a predetemined partition stored on the subscriber identity module (SIM) in a given operating mode. In addition, other essential information relating to the applications used can be stored in said space (3). The invention makes it possible to send and receive encrypted messages and to decrypt them. The present invention can be used e.g. in various payment transactions requiring security.
