    Thermal decomposition step: a hydrocarbon having 3 or more carbon atoms is thermally decomposed to obtain a decomposed gas having a total content of propyne and propadiene of 2 wt% or more,
    Separation step: mixed liquid rich in propyne and propadiene is separated from the decomposed gas obtained in the thermal decomposition step,
    Propyne purification step: the mixed liquid rich in propyne and propadiene obtained in the separation step is subjected to extractive distillation, for separation into purified propyne, and crude propadiene containing propadiene as the main component,
    Isomerization step: the crude propadiene obtained in the propyne purification step is isomerized in the presence of an isomerization catalyst, to obtain crude propyne containing propyne as the main component, and
    Carbonylation step: the purified propyne obtained in the propyne purification step is reacted with carbon monoxide and methanol in the presence of a group VIII metal catalyst system, to produce methyl methacrylate.

    摘要: A method is for producing propylene oxide, the method including the steps of: reacting hydrogen peroxide with propylene either in an acetonitrile solvent or in a mixture of solvents which include acetonitrile and water, in presence of a titanosilicate catalyst, whereby a reaction mixture containing propylene oxide is obtained; separating the reaction mixture obtained in the reacting into a gas and a reaction liquid; and distilling the reaction liquid obtained in the separating, whereby the reaction liquid is separated into a column top liquid containing propylene oxide, and a column bottom liquid including acetonitrile or a combination of acetonitrile and water, in combination with other steps. This enables industrially efficient production of propylene oxide with use of acetonitrile.

    wherein R 1 is an optionally substituted lower alkyl group, a lower alkenyl group, a lower alkynyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, or a heterocyclic group, and R 2 is a lower alkyl group, with a bisulfite of general formula (II):

    wherein M is NH 4 or an alkali metal, to give a bisulfite adduct of the pyruvic acid compound and then decomposing the adduct with an acid. According to the present invention, pyruvic acid compounds can be purified by simple and easy procedures without using purification techniques such as distillation or column chromatography, and the above method is advantageous as a process for the production on an industrial scale.
