摘要:
Process of and system for providing credit to a retailer (10) by collecting checks from customers during financial transactions between the customers and the retailer, depositing by the retailer the collected checks into a safe (14) located at the retailer facility (10a, 10b, 10c), calculating the total monetary value of the checks that are deposited into the safe, and electronically transmitting a data file that identifies the calculated total monetary value of the deposited checks. Using the information in the transmitted data file, the retailer is credited by a bank (6OA, 6OB, 60C), or other financial institute with the total monetary value of the deposited checks. Crediting may be provided on a business day basis, and other features include imaging of the deposited checks, facilitating check processing using the image files of the checks, displaying the imaged checks on a display at the retailer during the financial transaction, depositing the checks into the same safe into which cash collected by the retailer is deposited, providing the checks within the safe in sealed cassettes, and printing an image of a collected check on a receipt that is provided to the customer. Other features also are described. The process and system advantageously make funds readily available and improves cash flow to retailers who take-in checks as part of their normal business operations.
摘要:
A process for providing bank credit to retailers for cash collections that are carried out during retailers' normal business operations. The process entails a retailer (10) collecting cash over a period of time, such as over a single or multiple business days, generally in exchange for goods and/or services, depositing the collected cash into one or more electronic safes (10a, 10b, 10c) disposed at the retailer's location or locations, calculating at a designated time, such as the end of day at each location, a total amount of cash that has been deposited into the retailer's safes (10a, 10b, 10c) over such period of time, and electronically transmitting data files that identify the calculated total amounts of cash accepted by the retailer (10) over the period of time. The retailer (10) is credited, for example, by a bank (40), with the total cash deposits as reported by the electronic safes (10a, 10b, 10c) at the end of each business day. The process advantageously makes funds readily available and improves cash flow to retailers who take-in cash as part of their normal business operations.

A. method of depositing funds into a drop safe at various times throughout at least one predefined business day and then collecting those funds from the safe at the ends of collection periods that include deposits made during parts of at least one such business day not coincident with the collection period, comprising the steps of: depositing funds into the safe at various times throughout at least one business day that does not coincide with a collection period; for each deposit into the safe, storing data in a computer memory associated with the safe to identify the amount of that deposit and the business day of the deposit; removing from the safe the funds deposited into the safe in a collection period since the safe was last empty; and at the end of said collection period, identifying from the stored data the total amounts deposited into the safe for each complete business day, if any, during said collection period and the total amounts deposited into the safe during each partial business day during said collection period to produce a closing content report for said totals, so that the aggregate of the partial and complete business day totals equals the total amount deposited into the drop safe during said collection period.

摘要:
A process and system for facilitating cash collection deposits and deposit tracking includes identifying by a retailer (10) an amount of cash collected by that retailer (10), including respective amounts of currency by denomination of the collected cash, creating a deposit ticket containing at least a unique identification code associated therewith, depositing the created deposit ticket and the collected cash into a deposit bag, transporting the deposit bag to a cash processing facility (30), and counting at the cash processing facility (30) the collected cash contained in the transported deposit bag to verify that the amount previously identified by the retailer (10) corresponds to the counted amount. Particularly additional novel features include at least the following: the manner in which the retailer (10) identifies the amount of collected cash; the manner in which the deposit bag may be scheduled for pickup; providing advance credit to the retailer (10) for the cash deposits during various stages of cash handling/processing; and the particular manner of tracking the status of each of the deposit bags of a retailer' s multiple stores.
