Rigid connection between adjacent subpanels (14a-14d) of the same door panel (12a-12d) is made by at least one and preferably two connecting bars (32) extending within channels (34, 36) of adjacent subpanels (14a-14d) in a lengthwise direction. The connecting bars (32) are each formed of a length substantially less than the overall length of the door panel (12a-12d) but slightly longer than the length of an individual subpanel (14a-14d). All components of the door (10) may be stored and transported in relatively small packages or cartons (100), yet may be assembled into a structurally rigid, wind resistant sectional door (10).
