摘要: A blood flow controlling apparatus (42) comprising: a valve means (52), the valve means movable between an open state and a closed state, the valve means in the open state extending primarily in a direction along blood flow, the valve means in the closed state extending in a direction transverse to blood flow, the valve means including a plurality of flaps (344) arranged side-by-side with adjacent surfaces having coaptation areas in close contact with each other to prevent leakage between the flaps; an anchoring means (54) arranged to fix the position of the apparatus in a circulatory system, the anchoring means disposed on an outflow side of the valve means; and an elongate connecting means (46) extending between the valve means and the anchoring means, the connecting means axially spacing the valve means from the anchoring means.

摘要: In one embodiment, the present invention provides a prosthesis that can be implanted within a heart to at least partially block gaps that may be present between the two mitral valve leaflets. In one preferred embodiment, the prosthesis includes an anchoring ring that expands within the left atrium to anchor the prosthesis and a pocket member fixed to the anchoring ring. The pocket member is positioned within the mitral valve, between the leaflets so that an open end of the pocket member is positioned within the left ventricle. When the mitral valve is open, blood flows past the pocket member, maintaining the pocket member in a collapsed state. When the mitral valve closes, the backpressure of the blood pushes into the pocket member, expanding the pocket member to an inflated shape. The mitral valve leaflets contact the expanded pocket member, allowing the prosthesis to block at least a portion of the openings between the leaflets, thereby minimizing regurgitated blood flow into the left atrium.

摘要: A container support device for use in removing and delivering multiple fluids from a patient is disclosed. The container support device includes an attachment member for coupling the container support device to a weight scale, a joint body attached to the attachment member and configured to rotate about a vertical axis thereof, a support body secured to the joint body, and at least one container support extending from the support body.
