摘要: A method of using historic data from previous calls made from mobile terminals within a wireless communications network to predict future call management options to maximize quality. The method may include determining a route traveled by a mobile terminal in a mobile communication network by determining the geographic position of the mobile terminal at a plurality of time instants as the mobile terminal is moving within the network. The positions are stored in a memory, and a route is determined when a predetermined number of locations occur within a predetermined area. Once a route is determined, subsequent mobile terminals moving through the network are monitored and their paths are compared with the predetermined routes. The mobile terminal is considered to be moving along the predetermined route when the path matches any of the predetermined routes. The projected path of the mobile terminal along the identified route is used to assist in planning and executing call handoffs for the mobile terminal in an efficient manner.

摘要: Methods and arrangements are provided that allow for an Internet gateway to directly request or otherwise access routing and/or location information within a home location register (HLR) within a mobile communications network. This allows for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications to be conducted without requiring excessive signalling and/or processing within the mobile communications network. The methods and arrangements can be provided in the form of a standalone node or incorporated into existing nodes, such as, for example, a gateway node within the Internet or a similar network. Verification and/or policing functions are also provided to limit access to the routing and/or location information.

摘要: The present invention provides a system and method for processing packetized data or packets through a communications switch using a Fast Flow-Forwarding ('FFF') system. FFF provides expedited forwarding of packets based on pattern matching and data manipulation rules that cross protocol layer boundaries. More specifically, the present invention provides a method for processing a packet in which the packet is received and processed using one or more transformation rules whenever the packet satisfies one or more identification rules. Otherwise, the packet is processed using a standard process whenever the packet does not satisfy the one or more identification rules. This method can be implemented using a computer program having a code segment to execute each step of the method.

摘要: A mobile communication system comprises a plurality of cells, with each cell including a network of microstations distributed more or less uniformly throughout the cell. A central controller connected to the network of microstations selects a group of microstations in the vicinity of the mobile terminal to transmit information to the mobile terminal. The selected microstations in the active set for a given mobile terminal is continuously updated as the mobile terminal moves through the network of microstations to form a virtual cell that follows the mobile terminal through the network. Transmission conflicts between two mobile terminals is avoided by inhibiting transmissions from an active microstation to at least one of the co-channel mobile terminals when a transmission conflict is detected.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for frequency generation suitable for use in wireless devices capable of operating at multiple frequencies. Such systems may change the loop gain of an automatic frequency control loop based on the operating frequency of the wireless device. Furthermore, such a frequency dependent loop gain may be carried out by the selection of subroutines with differing loop gains associated with the subroutines. Furthermore, the loop gain may also be temperature compensated based on the temperature of the wireless device and/or the operating frequency of the device.

摘要: Circuitry and an associated method for transmitting voice signals together with data signals upon a wireless communication channel. The data signals are transmitted at a selected level of reliability and the voice signals are transmitted at a selected throughput level. When utilizing a High level Data Link Control (HDLC) protocol scheme, data signals are transmitted upon numbered information frames and voice signals are transmitted as unnumbered information frames. By transmitting the voice signals together with the data signals, electronic communication devices requiring transmission of voice-over-data transmissions, such as multi-media devices, voice paging devices, and voicemail devices, can be realized utilizing wireless communication channels.

摘要: A contact assembly provides a reliable contact between a battery pack and an electronic device. The assembly includes a plurality of contact members and an insulator molded to the contact members. The plurality of contact members preferably include a positive contact member and a negative contact member each having a weldable surface and a selectively plated surface. The weldable surfaces are welded to the positive and negative terminals of the battery pack, respectively. The selectively plated surfaces are preferably plated with gold to ensure a good connection between the device and the battery pack. The insulator serves to fix the contact members relative to each other. In addition, the insulator facilitates minimization of the battery pack size by enabling the contacts to be placed very close to each other.
