In an access node (AN) of a telecommunications network which is connected to a subscriber terminal exchange (LE) via a V.5 interface comprising speech/data channels in a system of B channels (L1-TS 1 to Ln-TS 31), the data circuit between the management system (MS) of the telecommunications network is realized with the aid of a configuration interface device (Q-IF) which is provided for setting OA & M functions and which is connected to a defined B channel (L1-TS 1) at least in the default configuration of the access node (AN). According to the invention, the defined B channel (TS 1) is excluded from the operation also outside the default configuration as a speech/data channel by a software setting function and, therefore, is excluded from the dynamic channel allocation by the subscriber terminal exchange (LE) in order to transport management system information as a connection to the data communications network (DCN) of the management system (MS). The software setting function is conducted on a speech/data channel access outside the access node (AN) by installing a fixed connection between the subscriber terminal exchange (LE) and the access node (AN).

The invention relates to a procedure for the processing of an unexpected disconnect request in an access node (AN) which is connected to a local exchange (LE) over a V5 interface. In the access node (AN), call setdown is effected by means of a disconnect message, which is sent from the local exchange (LE) and on the basis of which the call resources in the local exchange (LE) are released. According to the invention, the resources reserved in the access node (AN) for the call are preserved. Moreover, the local exchange (LE) is informed that the subscriber is busy, thus preventing the occurrence of an undefined condition between the local exchange (LE) and the access node (AN).

The invention relates to a method for setting up a connection and to a cellular radio system used during a hand-off. The cellular radio system comprises subscriber terminals and base stations that communicate with the subscriber terminals and that form antenna beams that are oriented towards the subscriber terminal in order to set up an optimum connection to the subscriber terminal. The cellular radio system comprises calculation means for calculating the location of the subscriber terminal in the cellular radio system on the basis of the established connection, the base stations that set up the connection to the subscriber terminal orienting their antenna beams rapidly towards the subscriber terminal on the basis of the afore-mentioned location data.

A plurality of consecutive signals are received at the first station (BTS4) from the second station (MS). The signals are each receivable from at least one of a plurality of different directions. For each of a plurality of sequential signals which are received by the first station (BTS4) from the second station (MS) the value of at least one parameter is determined. The value of at least one parameter is selected for a signal to be transmitted from the first station (BTS4) to the second station (MS), the value of the at least one parameter of the signal to be transmitted by the first station (BTS4) being selected in dependence on the determined values of the at least one parameter of the plurality of sequential signals.

The invention relates to a method for controlling the flow of data messages exchanged between asynchronous digital stack processes in an unreliable distributed multiprocessor system, such as an SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) node. In accordance with the invention, the inter-process flow control algorithm is based on a credit mechanism. According to that mechanism, a sending process (P1) must receive credit from the receiving process (P2, P3, P4) before the sending process (P1) can send messages (Q) to the recipient. The sending process (P1) uses in the account (account P2, account P3, account P4) of each receiving process the process' own pool (V2, V3, V4) and, in addition, a common pool (Y1) for all the receiving processes, so that a pool at each given moment represents the unused amount of credit obtained form the receiving processes (P2, P3, P4) and so that the free portion in the pool indicates how much there is room left in the message buffer for messages (Q) sent to the receiving process.
