In case of a faulty weft, the cutting of the yarn (2) is prevented and a double weft is simultaneously fed into the shed (3). The loop (7) thus formed is conveyed to the outlet of the shed (3) by an air stream, inside a pneumomechanical device (10) positioned at loom outlet. Said device (10) comprises an inner duct (13) into which blows the air stream conveying the faulty weft yarn, yarn gripping and intermittent drawing members (15) positioned downstream of and across said duct (13), and devices (19, 21) to protect from dirt the yarn detection optical sensor (18).

A toothed wheel (3) to control the gripper straps in shuttleless looms is obtained by injection molding of thermoplastic material. To increase wear resistance of the wheel toothing (1), a strip (2) of thermosetting material - reinforced with carbon or cotton fibres - is introduced into the mold during the molding operation, said strip (2) having a fretted section reproducing the final profile of said toothing (1). The strip (2) is pre-manufactured in a flat position and of length sufficient to cover the full circumference of the toothed wheel (3). It then remains firmly positioned into the mold, once it has been elastically deformed into a circle to be introduced therein. This also allows to considerably accelerate the toothed wheel manufacturing process.

The invention concerns a device and a method to form the split selvedge in a loom, in which the device comprises independent motor means controlled by a central processing unit of the loom on the basis of the actual weaving parameters of each single weft, thereby varying the moment of mutual shifting of the selvedge yarns. It is thus possible to equalize the final tension level of the single wefts, independently from the weaving conditions and from the characteristics of the single weft being inserted, thereby obtaining, after cutting of the split selvedge, a fringe of uniform length even for fabrics woven with different wefts.
