摘要： Trigger-type drinker (30) for poultry and small animals including a water retaining disc (60) at the free end of the trigger pin (50).
The disc (60) is generally flat with an upturned lip (66) around the perimeter thereof. A residual water drop or water leaking from the drinker runs down the trigger pin (50) and collects on the disc (60), contained by the lip (66). The disc (60) allows several drops of water to collect at the bottom of the pin (50). The increased amount of water on the pin (50) assists in attracting birds to the drinker (30). When the bird actuates the drinker, the disc (60) tilts toward the bird, thereby causing the water to run across the surface of the disc (60) and into the bird's mouth. Thus, the disc (60) assists in directing more water to the bird. Additionally, because the side of the disc (60) farthest from the bird tilts upward as the bird actuates the drinker, it not only acts as a ramp for the water to flow downward toward the bird, but also acts as a retaining wall, preventing the water from flying off the opposite side of the pin (50). Accordingly, the floor of the poultry house remains drier.

摘要： A metering pin (10) is provided having two portions (30,40) of different external configuration, each of which portions are insertable into the fluid flow path for restricting fluid flow under different actuating conditions. These two portions (30,40) can be dimensioned to be readily retrofit into various existing nipple drinkers according to the configuration of the drinker inlet. The specific dimensions of each portion (30,40) relative to the drinker inlet can be selected according to desired flow rates at different levels of poultry growth.

摘要： A flushing system for poultry watering systems is provided which includes a by pass (30) of the upstream pressure regulator (20), self sealing caps (50) for the stand pipes (92) and an automatic flush valve (70) at the end of the supply line (14). A shut-off valve (40) in the by pass is provided which is actuatable manually or automatically in response to a timer, environmental sensor (46) or water condition sensor (48). The automatic flush valve (70) opens a response to a predetermined pressure level and connects the supply line (14) to a drain hose (94). The self sealing caps (50) prevent leakage out of the standpipes (92) and are especially formed to prevent blow outs of the seal. Where multiple pressure regulators (20) are used in the supply line, additional automatic flush valves (70) can be positioned in a by pass line (30) around those regulators (20).
