Abstract:
A method of destructing a toxic chemical, comprising the steps of mixing said toxic chemical with a liquid phase formed by an aqueous mixture of water and an ionic liquid or molten salt which is miscible with water, said ionic liquid or molten salt comprising a tertiary amine group or quaternary ammonium group; and contacting said toxic chemical in said liquid phase with said ionic liquid or molten salt so as to decompose said toxic chemical. The ionic liquid or molten salt comprises a tertiary amine group or quaternary ammonium group. The dispersion or solution further contains at least one oxidizing agent and a donor of hydrogen bonds. Decontamination of contaminated surfaces and decomposition of toxic substances are achieved by using environmentally friendly, non-toxic solvents and reactants which yields reaction products which are substantially non-harmful or even non-toxic.
Abstract:
The present invention provides mutated hyperthermophilic PTE having a lactonase activity derived from a hyperthermophilic phosphotriesterase corresponding to the consensus sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, said mutated PTE comprising the at least one mutation chosen amongst 55 putative positions and said mutated PTE having enhanced properties. Also provided are compositions comprising the mutated hyperthermophilic PTE and the uses thereof, notably as bioscavenger of organophosphate compounds or as quorum quencher of the bacteria using lactones to communicate.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to enzymes capable of hydrolysing organophosphate (OP) molecules. In particular, the invention relates to variants of the OpdA enzyme from Agrobacterium that display improved activity when compared to the naturally occurring OpdA. The invention is also towards polypeptides that have organophosphate hydrolysing activity for the organophosphates chlorpyrifos methyl, diazinon and parathion ethyl.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a decontaminating composition comprising: (i) perpropionic acid, (ii) dipicolinic acid, (iii) a salt of hydroxyethyldiethylphosphonic acid, (iv) a surface-active agent, and (v) an alkalinizing agent. The decontaminating compositions that are the subject of the invention have a high stability and high effectiveness, enabling a rapid destruction of the toxic organophosphorus or organosulphur agents.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to perpropionic acid compositions that are stable in a basic medium, to a method for stabilizing the perpropionic acid, and also to the use of a specific combination of compounds for stabilizing the perpropionic acid in a basic medium.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a novel bacterium species comamonas acidovorans P4a (DSM 10574) and a process for the microbial decontamination of materials, water or soils contaminated by herbicides, especially 2,4-dichloro and/or 4-chloro-2-methylphenoxy acetic acid (2,4-D and/or MCPA) or their salts. The bacterial species of the invention is stable and metabolically active up to pH values of 12.5 and tolerates heavy pollution with the toxic compounds 2,4-D and MCPA.
