Abstract:
The present invention describes a novel coating process that comprises the use of a functional photoinitiator, or a macroinitiator derived therefrom, in a cascade of process steps, wherein, on the one hand, a functional photoinitiator or a macroinitiator derived therefrom is covalently bonded to a carrier and, on the other hand, an oligomer or polymer forming a new surface layer is covalently bonded to the functional photoinitiator, or to the carrier modified by a functional photoinitiator, via functional groups that are co-reactive with isocyanate groups. The invention relates also to novel intermediates that are carriers to which functional photoinitiators that contain free isocyanate groups are bonded.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a cross-linked polymer built up from a polymerization product of a highly unsaturated polymer (a) and a polysiloxane (b) with terminal or pendentive hydrosilane groups in such a way that numerous unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds remain intact, at least one vinyl monomer optionally being grafted to these bonds. The invention also concerns methods of producing the cross-linked polymers, as well as moulded products, in particular contact lenses, biomedical articles and artifical corneas consisting completely or substantially of such cross-linked polymers, and the use of the polymers to coat the surfaces of moulded products.

On prépare un oligomère d'éther de vinyle, utile en particulier pour les revêtements, par réaction d'un polyester à terminaison hydroxyle, d'un diisocyanate, et d'un éther de monovinyle hydroxy ayant les formules indiquées dans la description.
Abstract:
A personal safety protective device that includes a lens and a support structure onto which the lens is secured. The lens includes a substrate and a hard-coat layer located on the substrate of the lens. The hard-coat layer has a low surface energy outer surface that is derived from a) an additive that includes at least one of i) a perfluoropolyether urethane that includes hydrolysable silane groups, and ii) an acrylate polymer that includes at least one perfluoropolyether moiety and at least one hydrolysable silane group, and b) a silsesquioxane-based hard-coat composition. The provision of such a lens on a personal safety protective device enables the lens to be durable to abrasion and to be easily cleaned without use of solvents that could shorten the service life of the lens.
Abstract:
Provided is a reactive hot-melt adhesive composition which has excellent water resistant adhesion. The reactive hot-melt adhesive composition of the present invention is a reactive hot-melt adhesive composition that is moisture curable and that contains: a urethane prepolymer having an isocyanate group, a (meth)acrylic resin, and an adhesion promoter containing at least an isocyanate group-containing (meth)acrylamide compound.
Abstract:
Disclosed are functional polyallophanate oligomers comprising ethylenically unsaturated groups and polymer stabilizer groups selected from hindered amine light stabilizers, ultraviolet light absorbers, antioxidants and dihydrocarbylhydroxylamines. The ethylenically unsaturated groups and the polymer stabilizer groups are bound to the polyallophanate oligomers through allophanate and/or carbamate groups. The polyallophanate oligomers are useful in curable coatings, inks and varnishes. The present polyallophanate oligomers are derived from a) organic polyisocyanates, b) compounds containing at least one isocyanate reactive group and at least one ethylenically unsaturated group and c) polymer stabilizers containing at least one isocyanate reactive group.
