Abstract:
A method of reducing deposits in a diesel engine, the method comprising combusting in the engine a diesel fuel composition comprising a detergent additive which is not a quaternary ammonium salt or a Mannich reaction product; and a quaternary ammonium salt additive comprising the reaction product of nitrogen containing species having at least one tertiary amine group and a quaternizing agent; wherein the nitrogen containing species is selected from: (i) the reaction product of a hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent and a compound comprising at least one tertiary amine group and a primary amine, secondary amine or alcohol group; (ii) a Mannich reaction product comprising a tertiary amine group; and (v) a polyalkylene substituted amine having at least one tertiary amine group.
Abstract:
A metal-free detergent and antioxidant additive comprising the reaction product of an acidic organic compound, a boron compound, a polyamine such as polyethylene imine, and optionally an alkoxylated amine and/or an alkoxylated amide, is provided. The additives of the present invention have higher TBN than similar compounds known in the art.
Abstract:
A gasoline product containing a combustion improver and a manufacturing method therefor. A combustion improver is added to gasoline to reduce an ignition point of the gasoline, so that the gasoline product can be applied to a compression ignition engine. Content of the combustion improver is controlled according to a value of octane in base gasoline, so as to implement homogeneity of a nitrogen oxygen equivalent contained in the gasoline product. The combustion improver is selected from at least one of ammonium nitrate and a derivative thereof, nitric acid ester and a derivative thereof, aniline and a derivative thereof, and nitrobenzene and a derivative thereof.
Abstract:
A fuel additive for a gasoline fuel composition, a gasoline fuel composition and a method for reducing wear in a gasoline delivery system of an engine. The fuel additive includes a mixture of (i) N,N-bis(hydroxyalkyl)-alkylamine, and (ii) an amide reaction product of a hydroxy acid, hydroxy ester, or lactone and an amine or ether amine, wherein a weight ratio of (i) to (ii) in the mixture ranges from about 1:5 to about 5:1. A method of operating a gasoline engine fueled by the fuel composition and use of the fuel composition to reduce wear are also described.
Abstract:
An enhanced fuel, a method of producing such enhanced fuel, and method of using such enhanced fuel for operating internal combustion engine. The fuel includes a mixture of at least one alcohol, water and ammonium nitrate (AN) as a cetane enhancer. The water is included in a quantity which renders the ammonium nitrate dissolved in the at least one alcohol. The fuel further contains dimethylether as an ignition-improver additive, at least one lubricity agent and at least one anti-corrosion agent.
Abstract:
An absorbent for selective removal of hydrogen sulfide from a fluid stream comprises an aqueous solution of a) a tertiary amine, b) a sterically hindered secondary amine of the general formula (I) in which R 1 and R 2 are each independently selected from C 1 - 4 -alkyl and C 1 - 4 -hydroxyalkyl; R 3 , R 4 , R5 and R 6 are each independently selected from hydrogen, C 1 - 4 -alkyl and C 1 - 4 -hydroxyalkyl, with the proviso that at least one R 4 and/or R5 radical on the carbon atom bonded directly to the nitrogen atom is C 1 - 4 -alkyl or C 1 - 4 -hydroxyalkyl when R 3 is hydrogen; x and y are integers from 2 to 4 and z is an integer from 1 to 4; where the molar ratio of b) to a) is in the range from 0.3 to 0.7, and c) an acid in an amount, calculated as neutralization equivalents relative to the protonatable nitrogen atoms in a) and b), of 1.0 to 9.0%. One preferred amine of the formula is 2-(2-tert-butylaminoethoxy)ethanol. The absorbent allows a defined H 2 S selectivity to be set at pressures of the kind typical in natural gas processing. In addition, a process for removing acidic gases from a fluid stream having a partial H 2 S pressure of at least 0.1 bar and/or a partial CO 2 pressure of at least 0.2 bar by means of this absorbent.
Abstract:
The present technology is related to quaternary ammonium salts prepared with alcohol functionalized and/or C4 to C20 epoxide quaternizing agents, such as, for example, glycidol and 1,2-butylene oxide, and the use of such quaternary ammonium salts in fuel compositions to improve the water shedding performance of the fuel composition.
