Abstract:
The invention provides compositions and methods related to selective inhibition of PPO11 and use for improving shelf life of a plant or parts thereof. In accordance with the invention, for example, compositions for topical application to a plant or part thereof, are provided that can reduce browning of the plant or part thereof to extend shelf life.
Abstract:
The object is to provide a process for dyeing that can provide an excellent dyeing effect while utilizing an oxidase, and a dyeing agent for use in the process. Provided is a dyeing agent comprising a modified enzyme obtained by adding positive charge by a chemical modification with an amine to an enzyme selected from the group consisting of an enzyme specified as EC 1.10.3.1, an enzyme specified as EC 1.10.3.2, an enzyme specified as EC 1.3.3.5, an enzyme specified as EC 1.10.3.4, an enzyme specified as EC 1.10.3.3 and an enzyme specified as EC 1.14.18.1. A process for dyeing using the dyeing agent is also provided.
Abstract:
In one aspect, a method of treating cancer in a mammal is provided. The method comprises administering to the mammal an oncolytic vector that expresses a tumor antigen to which the mammal has a pre-existing immunity. In another aspect, a method of boosting immune response in a mammal having a pre-existing immunity to an antigen is provided comprising intravenous administration to the mammal of a B-cell infecting vector that expresses the antigen.
Abstract:
Novel isolated polynucleotides and polypeptides associated with the lignin biosynthetic pathway are provided, together with constructs including such sequences. Methods for the modulation of lignin content, lignin structure and lignin composition in target organisms are also disclosed, the methods comprising incorporating one or more of the polynucleotides of the present invention into the genome of a target organism.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a new plant breeding process. The process improves the agronomic performance of crop plants by using genetic material that is also used in classical breeding. Instead of sexually recombining entire genomes at random, as is done in classical breeding, specific genetic elements are rearranged in vitro and inserted back into individual plant cells. Plants obtained through this new plant breeding process do not contain foreign nucleic acid but only contain nucleic acid from the plant species selected for transformation or plants that are sexually compatible with the selected plant species. Plants developed through this new plant breeding process are provided. In particular, potato plants displaying improved tuber storage and health characteristics are provided.
Abstract:
Recombinant MVA viruses containing and capable of expressing foreign genes which is inserted at the site of a naturally occuring deletion within the MVA genome, and the use of such recombinant MVA viruses for the production of polypeptides, e.g. antigenes or therapeutic agents, and for the production of recombinant viruses for vaccines, or viral vectors for gene therapy.
