Abstract:
The ball joint assembly includes a housing with an open interior and which extends from a closed end to an open end. A stud ball with a ball portion is disposed in the open interior of the housing. A first bearing is also disposed in the open interior and includes first and second contact surfaces which are spaced from one another by a gap. The contact surfaces are in sliding contact with the ball portion of the ball stud, and the first contact surface is semi-spherically curved with a generally constant diameter while the second contact surface is generally cylindrical in shape. A second bearing is disposed in the open interior of the housing and has a third contact surface which is in sliding contact with the ball portion of the stud ball and is biased against the ball portion.
Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to provide a curved sliding unit having stable sliding performance and long service life. The present invention discloses a curved sliding liner in a bowl shape obtained by rolling a ribbon-shaped woven cloth so as to form steps in the width direction of the ribbon. The present invention also discloses a curved sliding unit including an external member, the curved sliding liner disposed inside the external member, and an internal member disposed inside the curved sliding liner.
Abstract:
A ball joint capable of maintaining a good sealing characteristic even when a film part of a dust cover is strained and capable of improving the assembly characteristic of the dust cover is provided at low cost. In a ball joint having a ball stud having a spherical head part, a socket turnably housing the spherical head part and having an opening in one side, and a dust cover; the ball stud is provided with a first flange part, an intermediate shaft part, and a second flange part; and the dust cover is provided with an inner peripheral part sandwiched between the first flange part and the second flange part and fitting the intermediate shaft part, a lip part being in close contact with the second flange part, and a protruding part having a gap at least at one location and abutting the second flange part.
Abstract:
The invention proposes a ball joint for a motor vehicle, having a housing (1) and having a ball pin (2), the joint ball (3) of which is mounted in a rotatable and pivotable manner in a bearing shell (6). According to the invention, the bearing shell (6) has a sheet-metal strip which is provided with recesses and which is shaped so as to form the bearing shell. The invention also describes a method for producing a component of a bearing shell of a ball joint of said type.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a radial joint for a motor housing, comprising a metallic housing (1), through the one-sided hole (2) of which a ball journal (3) can be inserted into an interior (4) of the housing (1). The joint ball (5) of the ball journal (3) is pivotally and rotatably mounted in a bearing zone of the interior (4) while a journal section (6) of the ball journal (3), which is connected to the joint ball (5), protrudes from the housing (1) through the hole (2) of the housing (1). The area of the hole (2) of the housing (1) is provided with a section (7) which is created in a machining process and can be shaped with the aid of a cold forming process. Also disclosed is a method for producing a radial joint, which encompasses the following steps: - the housing blank is produced; - the section (7) located close to the hole (2) of the housing is machined; - the joint ball (5) of the ball journal (3) is inserted into the interior (4) of the housing (1); - the peripheral section of the housing (1) located on the hole side is cold formed until a metallic cover (13) is created between the joint ball (5) and the housing (1), said metallic cover (13) ensuring sufficient tensile strength for the joint that is to be created and thus allowing the contacting parts to be positively connected.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a ball joint with a sealing bellow (4), whereby the sealing bellow (4) is arranged on the surface (17) of the ball pivot (3) in the shaft region (7) of the ball pivot (3), by means of a surrounding end band (11). The ball joint is characterised in that an elastic element (14), in the axial direction of the journal, which can be embodied in the form of a pressure spring element is arranged in the neck area (8) of the ball pivot (3). The pressure spring element presses against one end in the region of the transition between the neck area (8) and the ball (9) of the ball journal (3) and on the other end, directly or indirectly on the journal side of the end band (11) of the sealing bellow (4). The invention also relates to a ball joint wherein the sliding of the sealing bellow on the neck of the ball journal is prevented in a durable and reliable manner, even under extreme climatic conditions, or during exceptional mechanical stresses, such as, the impingement of a water jet of a high pressure cleaning device. Also, the journal-sided sealing of the sealing bellow and the constructive control and dimensioning of said ball joint is improved.
