Abstract: A method is disclosed for machining a stack (2) of slab workpieces (2a, 2b, 2c) in a multi-axis CNC machining centre, comprising: positioning one of the slab workpieces (2a) against a vertical abutting surface (3b); placing the slab workpieces side by side to form the stack so that finished base edges (20) of the slab workpieces rest on a horizontal base surface (3a); blocking the stack against the abutting surface and subsequently machining the stack of slab workpieces so that each edge to be machined of the slab workpieces is substantially parallel to the base surface and thus to the finished base edges. A blocking apparatus (1) is disclosed with support means (3) for the stack and driving and pushing means (4) configured to compact and block the stack on the support means.
