Abstract:
Various mounting systems and methods for mounting position sensing systems about a sensing region are described. The mounting system includes mounting brackets for mounting system modules. The system modules include radiation sources and sensors that are used to estimate the position of a radiation blocking object about the sensing region. The mounting system may be modular and may be dimensioned to match the dimensions of a display modules that are assembled in a matrix to form a display screen having a display surface. All or part of the display surface defines the sensing region in such embodiments.

Abstract:
A method of recognizing a gesture in a touch-based display, the method includes receiving a touch input in the display, recognizing a gesture input associated with the touch input; and performing a function assigned to the recognized gesture input.
Abstract:
A touch panel comprises a substrate having a forward major surface and formed of a plurality of assembled substrate segments. Cover material overlies the forward major surface to reduce the visibility of seams between adjacent substrate segments.
Abstract:
A method of configuring a printer for vacation periods is provided. The printer is connected to a network server and the method comprises switching the printer between a first operative mode, in which the network server transmits print data to the printer and the printer prints documents, and a second operative mode, in which the printer does not print documents and the network server stores data relating to pending print jobs which have not been printed. When the mode changes from the second mode to the first mode the network server retrieves or generates an electronic summary of the pending print jobs and causes the printer to print a printed summary corresponding to the electronic summary.
Abstract:
A touchpad formed from the combination of a flexible and non-conductive material used for a touch-sensitive surface (76), and a PC board (70) on which is mounted the touchpad circuitry, wherein touchpad sensing electrodes are disposed on the touch-sensitive surface (76) by creating electrical traces formed from conductive ink, the touch-sensitive surface (76) being capable of conforming to various arcuate surfaces, and being capable of sensing through a protective housing such that the touch-sensitive surface (76) is protected, and does not come in direct contact with the pointing object.
Abstract:
A smart surface is disclosed that can stand alone or be contained within a portable computer or other system, for powering and communicating with single or multiple cord-free transducers. Operating or charging power is transmitted by the surface using a carrier signal that is on/off keyed or amplitude modulated with synchronization, clock, enable, address, modes, commands and other pulse width, encoded or digital data. The signal is transmitted to single or multiple cordless smart transducers located on or above the surface, such as pens with multiple pressure sensing and switch capability, pointers, stylus, cursors, pucks, mouse, pawns, implements and similar items. Overlapping resonant inductive circuits are used in the surface to transmit operating power and communicate data to the transducer(s).
