Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Schallabsorptionsplatte (1) sowie eine Schallabsorptionsplatte (1), eine Vorrichtung zur Durchführung des Herstellungsverfahrens und die Verwendung der Schallabsorptionsplatte (1). Die Schallabsorptionsplatte (1) hat eine durch mechanische Bearbeitung wie Bürsten dreidimensional strukturierte Oberfläche an einer Deckschicht (2) aus Holz, das weiche und harte Abschnitte (4) aufweist, wobei durch die mechanische Bearbeitung weiche Abschnitte (5) des Holzes entfernt werden und dadurch Durchbrechungen (6) entstehen, die bis zu einer nächsten Schicht (3) hindurchgehen, die ihrerseits schallabsorbierend ist. Das Erscheinungsbild der gebürsteten Oberfläche der Deckschicht (2) entspricht im Wesentlichen dem Erscheinungsbild der unbearbeiteten Holzoberfläche.
