    摘要: A mechanical lifting jack (10) with a locking mechanism that arrests upward motion of the handle (22) if the handle (22) is suddenly released by the operator while raising or lowering a load. A latch (60) on the pivot attachment of the handle (22) to the lifting assembly is actuated by a lever (70) disposed at the distal end of the handle (22), and engages into a toothed safety link (42) when the lever (70) is released. In the event that the operator suddenly releases the handle (22) accidentally, the latch (60) engages the safety link (42) to arrest the upward motion of the handle (22). The invention can also be used to lock the handle (22) into an upright position alongside the vertical support (12) for compact storage.
