The invention relates to a method for charging coking-oven chambers of the "heat recovery" or "non-recovery" type, in which method coking-oven chambers are loaded by means of a setting-base which is brought up to the coking-oven chambers for the purpose of charging same. Prior to the charging of the coking-oven chambers, this setting-base is provided with stacked pressed coal blocks or with a finished coal cake and is brought up to the coking-oven chambers in order to charge them, these coking-oven chambers being loaded with the setting-base being pulled out from the coking-oven chamber at the end-face, or by means of a ram. Prior to loading with coal, said setting-base is provided with a layer of particles in order to reduce adhesive forces and thus stop the coal cake or the coal compacts from baking onto said setting-base. The invention also relates to a device comprising a setting-base equipped with an adhesive layer which consists of particles that reduce adhesive forces.

The invention relates to a method for reducing emissions of filling gas when charging oven chambers of a battery of coking ovens, on the proviso that the oven chamber (1) to be charged is opened on the machine side (MS) of the coking-oven battery, and a slug (10) of compressed carbon is introduced into the opened oven chamber (1). Filling gases released when the slug (10) of compressed carbon is being introduced into the hot oven chamber (1) are taken off through a filling gas receiver (11) which is attached to the oven chamber (1), and are then preferably dedusted and incinerated. Crude gases formed in the closed oven chambers in the course of a coking operation are removed through a crude gas receiver (3) which is attached to the oven chambers (1), and are passed on for a gas treatment procedure which includes at least one gas scrubber. Ports which connect the crude gas receiver (3) and the filling gas receiver (11) to the oven chambers (1) are, in accordance with the invention, alternately opened and closed, so that the filling gases formed during charging of the oven chambers (1) are admitted only into the filling gas receiver (11), and the crude gases formed by coking in the closed oven chambers are admitted only into the crude gas receiver (3).

The invention relates to a method for compacting coal in a manner suitable for coke oven chambers. The coal is initially compressed by means of a suitable compressing device into one or more coal cakes, and the obtained coal cakes are divided into compacted products by a cutting device, and said compacted products are stacked on top of the each other such that they can be loaded into a coke oven chamber for coking. Said compacted products enable the coke oven chambers to be loaded in a precise and a coal loss-free manner. The coal compacted products are easy to store. The invention also relates to the use of the claimed method for producing coal compacts for loading horizontal coke oven chambers.

Disclosed is a device for preventing gases from escaping when coal cakes (15) are fed into horizontal coking chambers (20), the coal cakes being produced outside the coking chamber (20) in a mould by a tamping, feed and pusher machine (1) and standing on the movable floor (14) of the mould. The device is designed as a channel (3) which surrounds the coal bakes (15) being fed in. The channel end wall nearest the oven abuts the frame (2) of the coking-chamber door. The device is characterized by the fact that the side walls (10) of the channel (3) can be inserted into the side walls of the mould which are hollow in the zone nearest the oven. In addition, the channel floor is formed by the movable floor (14) of the mould and the channel roof (9) is telescopic and has guides for the movable side walls (10). Located on the stationary part of the channel roof (9) is a levelling device (8) which levels the surface of the coal cake (15) and has a disposal device for the coal thus stripped off.
