摘要:
Input waveform data are processed by FFT to separate a harmonic wave component from the waveform data while a non-harmonic wave component is separated by subtracting the harmonic wave component from the waveform data. Vector quantization is performed on the harmonic wave component by selecting and using one of prestored harmonic vectors as a representative vector for the harmonic wave component, and vector quantization is performed on the non-harmonic wave component, independently of the harmonic wave component, by selecting and using one of prestored non-harmonic vectors as a representative vector for the non-harmonic wave component. Then, using harmonic and non-harmonic vectors indicated by vector information of a waveform to be reproduced, waveforms of harmonic and non-harmonic wave components are generated separately and then combined to thereby reproduce/generate the waveform.

An audio data format in which an instrument is described using a combination of sound samples and articulation instructions which determine modifications made to the sound sample is provided. The instruments form a first, initial layer, with a second layer having presets which can be user-defined to provide additional articulation instructions which can modify the articulation instructions at the instrument level. The articulation instructions are specified using various parameters (78). The present invention provides a format in which all of the parameters (78) are specified in units which relate to a physical phenomena, and thus are not tied to any particular machine for creating or playing the audio samples. The articulation parameters include generators (86) and modulators (88), which provide a connection between a real-time signal and a generator. The parameter units are specified in perceptually additive units, to make the data portable and easily edited. New units are defined to give perceptual additive parameters throughout.

There is provided a synthesized sound generating apparatus and method which can achieve responsive and high-quality speech synthesis based on a real-time convolution operation. Coefficients are generated by using dynamic cutting to extract characteristic information from a first signal. A convolution operation is performed on a second signal using the generated coefficients to generate a synthesized signal. As the convolution operation, an interpolation process is performed on the coefficients to prevent a rapid change in level of the generated synthesized signal upon switching of the coefficients.

A digital synthesizer includes an input transducer (101) for accepting input signals from a musician representing at least the desired fundamental pitch and timbre. The synthesizer has timbre storing circuitry for storing data representing a plurality of selectable timbres, including relative pitch data for a plurality of sets of partials and a plurality of sets of amplitude data, the partials and the amplitudes being independently selectable. Waveform determining circuitry determines sequential values of the musical waveform in real time from the timbre data, from the timbre selected by the musician, and from the pitch selected by the musician. The waveform determining circuitry includes a first adder (201) for additively determining the phase of each partial of the selected timbre and is responsive to the relative partial pitch data to determine that phase. It also includes a second adder (204) for summing the magnitudes of all the partials for the selected timbre at each predetermined time interval to generate the magnitude of the musical waveform at that instant.

For each one note or for each plurality of notes constituting a reference tone, a segment setting section (42) segments a time series of actual pitches of the reference tone into one or more note segments. For each of the one or more note segments, a relativization section (44) creates a time series of relative pitches that are relative values of individual ones of the actual pitches of the reference tone to a normal pitch of the note of the note segment. Information registration section (38) stores, into a storage device (14), relative pitch information comprising the time series of relative pitches of each individual one of the note segments. The segment setting section (42) may use musical score data, time-serially designating the notes of the reference tone, to set each of the note segments for each note designated by the musical score data, and may correct at least one of start and end points of each of the set note segments in response to user's operation.
