Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium that implements a display method of subtitles to be changed in accordance with the processing capacity of a playback apparatus used and the age of a user, without compromising the compatibility with the existing data structure of a graphics subtitle stream.SOLUTION: A BD-ROM has recorded thereon: subtitle streams each configured for playback in synchronization with a video stream; and playlist information. The playlist information includes PlayItem information and a display method flag. The PlayItem information defines a playback section with information indicating In_time and Out_time of a playback time axis of the video stream and includes a stream information table. The display method flag indicates whether or not control according to a subtitle display method in the playback section is valid. The stream information table specifies to, a playback apparatus, one of the subtitle streams to be selected if the display method according to the age in the playback section is set to be valid.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize selection from multiple different audio/visual streams embedded in a digital versatile disk (DVD) and an interaction with the audio/visual streams.SOLUTION: A navigation packet is detected in at least one stream for providing information concerning audio/visual streams. Then, it is determined which one of the other streams exists in synchronization with the stream, in which ones of audio and sub-pictures data packets exist in the respective streams, and which one of highlight information characteristics exists for selection from the synchronized streams. Audio and/or sub-picture contents are presented in order to change at least one of the audio data packet, the sub-picture data packet, and the highlight information characteristics in accordance with information concerning at least one of the other synchronized streams, and also to enable the displaying of buttons to be selected by a viewer and the selection.

A BD-ROM has recorded thereon: a plurality of subtitle streams each configured for playback in sync with a video stream; and PlayList information. The PlayList information includes PlayItem information and a display method flag. The PlayItem information defines a playback section with information indicating In_time and Out_time of a playback time axis of the video stream and includes a stream information table. The display method flag indicates whether or not control according to a subtitle display method is valid. The stream information table specifies to, a playback apparatus, one of the subtitle streams to be selected if the control according to the subtitle display method is valid.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for editing a recorded series of bits on a rewritable disc media. The method includes the steps of selectively identifying a beginning point and an end point of a segment of the recorded series of bits to be deleted; and modifying a first jump command in a control data portion of the disc. The first jump command is modified for causing playback from the disc to continue at the end point when reading in a forward direction. The method can further include modifying a second jump command in a control date portion of the disc for causing playback from the disc to continue at the beginning point when reading data for playback in a reverse direction.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compatibility with a conventional system reproducing a normal-resolution video, in an optical disk with high-resolution video signals recorded thereon and a system for reproducing the high-resolution video signals.SOLUTION: A high-resolution video signal is divided into a main signal and an auxiliary signal by video separation means. A first interleave block 54 and a second interleave block 55, in which respective streams subjected to MPEG coding are divided into frame groups of 1GOP or more, are recorded alternately on an optical disk 1. A reproduction device corresponding to high-resolution obtains a high resolution video by reproducing both the first and second interleave blocks. On the other hand, a reproduction device which does not correspond to high-image-quality obtains a normal-resolution video by reproducing only one of the first and second interleave blocks.
