Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device for a pedestrian allowing an air bag to widely cover the upper part of a cowl louver in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle while suppressing increase of volume. SOLUTION: In the air bag device M for the pedestrian, the air bag 46 at the completion of expansion has a louver cover part 50 for covering the above part of the cowl louver 18. The louver cover part 50 comprises two cylindrical parts 51 and 52 disposed in parallel in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and a cover cloth 59 disposable so as to cover each of the cylindrical parts 51 and 52 with its upper surface side, interconnect them in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, and make the cylindrical parts 51 and 52 to approach in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. At the completion of expansion, the louver cover part 50 can widely cover the above part of the cowl louver 18 in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle with height suppressed with the cylindrical parts 51 and 52 and the cover cloth 59. Abstract: An airbag includes a body cloth made of polyamide woven fabric and constituting a circumferential wall of the airbag. The body cloth includes on the inner surface a bond area having a coating layer of polyamide elastomer and to which a supplementary cloth made of polyamide woven fabric is bonded, an extended area having a same coating layer of polyamide elastomer as on the bond area, and an uncoated area that has no coating layer. The coating layer on the bond area is used as heat sealable adhesive that adheres the supplementary cloth to the body cloth whereas that on the extend area is arranged in such a manner as to be exposed to inflation gas upon airbag inflation so as to act as a protective membrane for preventing gas leakage.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein the protective function for an occupant in a rear seat is hardly degraded even when the positional relationship of a front seat to the occupant in the rear seat is changed. SOLUTION: In an airbag device for a rear seat, a controller 37 estimates a spacing between a back rest part of a front seat and knees of an occupant in the rear seat based on detected information by a front seat position sensor 32, a front seat collapse angle sensor 33 or the like. The controller 37 operates only a first inflator 15a when the estimated spacing is less than a predetermined value, and operates the first and second inflators 15a and 15b if the spacing is not less than the predetermined value. An airbag is developed and inflated thin by maintaining an overlapping part without breaking a tear seam part provided on an overlapping part of a tether when gas is supplied only from the first inflator 15a. The airbag is developed and inflated thick by breaking the tear seam part and developing the overlapping part when gas is supplied from the first and second inflators 15a and 15b. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular airbag device capable of surely protecting a head of an occupant in a rear seat of a vehicle. SOLUTION: An airbag 31 expanded and developed by an inflator 32 mounted on an inner panel 24 between a roof panel 22 and a roof head lining 23 is provided between the roof panel 22 and the roof head lining 23. When the airbag 31 is developed by action of external impact to the vehicle 20, a door side develop part 31a is developed along a rear window glass 25a, and a roof side develop part 31b is expanded and developed toward the vehicle front between the roof panel 22 and the roof head lining 23. Thereby, the roof head lining 23 is maintained in a position wherein the roof head lining 23 is floated downward the roof panel 22 by the roof side develop part 31b.
