PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent and treat various immune inflammatory disorders, metabolic syndromes and oxidation stress disorders by a food-derived substance exhibiting anti-inflammatory activity and/or antioxidant activity. SOLUTION: The composition exhibiting anti-inflammatory activity and/or antioxidant activity includes a hot water extract from a mushroom belonging to the family Coprinaceae. The composition exhibiting anti-inflammatory activity and/or antioxidant activity is prepared through a step (1) for extraction from dried powder of mushroom belonging to the family Coprinaceae with hot water, a step (2) for separation of a supernatant liquid from a mixture obtained by the step (1) and a step (3) for concentration of the supernatant liquid. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prove that a mushroom Grifola gargal which grows wildly in Chile and Argentine in South America, has a characteristic aroma, and is relished in some localities is a mushroom capable of serving as a food material having an effect of inhibiting the formation of osteoclasts. SOLUTION: Provided are an osteoclast formation inhibitor containing as an active ingredient a water extract of fruit bodies of mushrooms of scientific names Grifola gargal and/or Grifola sordulenta and an osteoclast formation inhibitor containing as an active ingredient a water extract of mycelia of mushrooms of scientific names Grifola gargal and/or Grifola sordulenta.
