PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify correction of a part of a document having a plurality of sheets. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image acquisition means for acquiring image data; a conveyance control means for sequentially feeding manuscript papers of a document from a first paper feeding part and discharging the papers to a predetermined paper discharging part; and a print control means by which, when a manuscript paper concerning a designated page is fed by the conveyance control means, a paper is fed from a second paper feeding part, image data is printed on the paper, and the paper is discharged to the predetermined paper discharging part. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically repair a jam state by a user's key operation when a jam occurs in the process of carrying a medium. SOLUTION: When a carrying jam of a continuous sheet P is detected by a discharge operation sensor 17, the slack state of the continuous sheet P is detected by slack detecting sensors 15 disposed in a transfer unit 40 and a fixing unit 14. When the detection result is that slack is present, the fixing unit 14 is driven first, and then the transfer unit 40 is driven. When the detection result of the slack detecting sensor 15 is that there is no slack, the transfer unit 40 is driven first, and then the fixing unit 14 is driven. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform sufficient fixing processing by making the fixing temperature appropriate while maintaining the performance of on-demand, miniaturization, and low cost and by preventing breakage of a fixing member. SOLUTION: At the start of fixing, first, electrical input to an infrared heater 25 is performed intermittently periodically to blink the infrared heater 25. The infrared heater 25 heats a fixing film 21 locally, so that periodical change (temperature distribution) occurs in the surface temperature of the fixing film 21. When this change is detected a plurality of times as a period of "peak to peak" of the temperature change by a temperature sensor 40, and this period is recognized to be the same as the period of the infrared heater 25, full lighting of the infrared heater 25 is started, and fixing preparation is performed. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of making compatible the miniaturization of the device and the proper detection of a paper jam. SOLUTION: A printer 100 comprises a U-turn path 82U for discharging paper by inverting the advancing direction thereof, and a straight path 82S for discharging paper without inverting the advancing direction further on the downstream side than a process part 50. The straight path 82S is branched from the U-turn path 82U at a feed roller 75, and constituted by opening a cover 12. The printer 100 further comprises a pre-branch sensor 63 and a post-branch sensor 64 for detecting the passing of the paper further on the downstream side than the process part 50. Based on the results of the outputs of the sensors, the printer determines paper jam further on the downstream side than a fixing device 8. When the cover 12 is opened, the printer does not determine the paper jam based on the fact that the post-branch sensor 64 detects the paper continuously for a predetermined period. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a recording medium feeding means for feeding a recording medium to a prescribed conveyance path; a conveyance means for conveying the recording medium, fed from the recording medium feeding means, on the conveyance path; a conveyance status detection means, disposed on the conveyance path, for detecting a conveyance status of the recording medium; a control means for controlling operations of the recording medium feeding means, the conveyance means, and the conveyance status detection means; and an accommodation means for accommodating the recording medium. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique to prevent damage to a sheet due to drawing out operation of a drawable unit in an image forming apparatus with a part of a sheet conveying passage reversing both sides of the sheet unitized to be drawable to the outside of the device. SOLUTION: In this image forming apparatus, the sheet conveyed in a first conveying direction leading to a predetermined discharge tray is made to switchback in a second conveying direction leading into a reverse conveyance pass to thereby reverse both sides. When the sheet is detected simultaneously by both a first sensor detecting the sheet existing in an intermediate conveyance unit and a second sensor detecting the sheet existing in the other sheet conveyance unit located adjacently to the upstream side of the second conveying direction of the intermediate conveyance unit, it is determined that the sheet extends over a boundary between the intermediate conveyance unit and the other sheet conveyance unit.
