Abstract: PURPOSE:To alleviate corrosion of valve shaft at gland section by using a gland packing formed nearly identical to the internal shape of the gland section by means of silicone rubber having elasticity. CONSTITUTION:A gland packing formed nearly identical to the internal shape of the gland section by means of silicone rubber having elasticity is used. For example, a solid elastic gland packing 4b can be formed by injecting silicone rubber into gland section of a new sea valve, and can be removed out from the sea valve used as a formwork by cutting this packing. Next, the old packing is taken out after removing the packing retainer 5 of sea valve incorporated in the indirect cooler, then the new elastic gland packing 4b is put into the gland section 3. The elastic gland packing 4b is pressed into the gland 3 again by the packing retainer 5 to effect sealing process.
