Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the subject new compound easily producible in a short time in high yield without using reaction catalyst and particular apparatus and useful as a raw material for pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, various surfactants, etc., a raw material for functional pigment, a water and oil repellent, etc. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I [Ar is group of formula II, formula III (R is H, halogen, etc.; (q) is 1-3), etc.; (n) and (m) are 1-10], e.g. perfluoro-3- methyl-2,5-dioxa-hexylbenzene. The compound can be produced by reacting a diperfluoro-oxa-alkanoyl peroxide of formula IV (RF is group of formula V) with a compound of formula ArH (preferably benzene, benzoic acid, etc.) preferably at a molar ratio of 1:(0.5-5). The reaction is preferably carried out by using 1,1,2-trichlorotrifluoroethane as a reaction solvent at 0-100 deg.C for >=3hr.

The residue is subjected to high-performance liquid chromatography with silica gel using a mixture of chloroform, acetone and acetic acid as an elution solvent and the fraction containing the compound of formula is evaporated to dryness.
