    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject article prevented from attachment of dust, stains and water droplets, excellent in chemical resistance by providing the surface of the original article with a film consisting of a composition containing a specific fluorine-contg. copolymer having silyl group. CONSTITUTION:The objective article can be obtained by forming, on the surface of the original article, a film consisting of a composition containing, as the essential ingredients, a copolymer having silyl and fluorine groups made up of (1) 40-60mol% of fluorolefin unit of formula I (X is F, Cl, 1-8C perfluoralkyl or 1-8C perfluoralkoxy), (2) 0.5-60mol% of silyl group-contg. unit of formula II (R is H or methyl; R is monovalent hydrocarbon; Y is organosiloxy or fluoralkyl; (k) is 0 or 1; (m) is 0-3), (3) 0-55mol% of vinyl unit of formula III (R is H or methyl; R is 1-12C alkyl, 3-12C cycloalkyl or 2-10C fluoralkyl; (p) and (q) are each 0 or 1), and (4) 0-55mol% of curable site-bearing unit of formula IV (R is H or methyl; R is divalent organic group; (r) is 0 or 1; (z) is curable site).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the surface treating agent of a carrier for various electrophotography which satisfies the charge characteristics required as a carrier, and the carrier treated with the surface treating agent. CONSTITUTION:This surface treating agent consists of a fluorine-contg. organosilane compd. containing an org. group having fluorine atom and hydrolytic group, or consists of a partially hydrolyzed product of the fluorine organosilane compd. By using the treating agent, the obtd. carrier has improved environmental moisture stability, wear resistance, and the charge characteristics required as the carrier for a long time can be maintained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a base material or an article, excellent in water repellency and used for transportation, equipment. CONSTITUTION:A base material is obtained by forming two layers of a lower layer prepared by treating the surface with a hydrolyzable silane compound or its partial hydrolyzate and further treating the surface of the resultant lower layer with a fluorinecontaining hydrolyzable silane compound or its partial hydrolyzate or an article, composed of a base material having the aforementioned surface-treated layers as a constituent element, thus the base material useful for transportation equipment is provided. Glass requiring excellent see- through visibility is suitable as the base material. Window glass or mirrors are exemplified as the article for the transportation equipment. Since the aforementioned article has excellent water repellency and abrasion, chemical and weather resistances together, its effects are semipermanently sustained. Therefore, the above-mentioned article is excellent as an article for the transportation equipment under severe use environments.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a base material or an article for building or building finish excellent in waterdrop removing properties. CONSTITUTION:An article for building or building finish is composed of a base material provided with the first layer formed by surface treatment with a hydrolyzable silane compound on the surface of a base material and the second layer formed by the surface treatment with an isocyanatosilane compound on the aforementioned first layer or a base material having the two surface-treated layers thereon as a constituent element. Glass requiring excellent see-through visibility is suitable as the base material. Window glass or mirrors are exemplified as the article for building or building finish. Since the aforementioned article has excellent waterdrop removing properties and good abrasion, chemical and weather resistances together, its effects are semipermanently sustained. Therefore, the above-mentioned article is excellent as an article for the building and building finish under severe use environments.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a treating agent which imparts excellent water repellency and water drop falling-off properties to the surface of a substrate by including a hydrolyzable silane compound and/or a partial hydrolyzate thereof. SOLUTION: This agent comprises a hydrolyzable silane compound represented by formula I and/or a partial hydrolyzate thereof. In the formula, R1 to R5 are each a monovalent organic group (desirably, R1 to R5 is a group of the formula: -Q2-Rf, R2 to R4 are each a monovalent hydrocarbon group, or all of R1 to R5 are CH3 groups); Rf is a monovalent polyfluorohydrocarbon group optionally containing an etheric oxygen atom; Q2 is a divalent organic group; X1 to X3 are each a hydrolyzable group or NCO; and Q1 is a divalent organic group, desirably, dimethylene; and (m) is 0 or greater. The hydrolyzable silane compound of formula I is exemplified by a compound of formula II (wherein (x) and (y) are each 0-3, provided that x+y=3). This agent is incorporated with an organic solvent (e.g. butyl acetate) to obtain a surface treating agent composition for treating the surface of glass.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment which is directly applied to a substrate at normal temp. to impart water repellency and stainproofness thereto by incorporating a fluorosilicone compd. having organosiloxane units having specific fluorine-contg. org. groups bonded to Si atoms or its hydrolyzate into the same. SOLUTION: This surface treatment comprises a fluorosilicone compd. having siloxane units having monovalent fluorine-contg. org. groups represented by formula I or II and bonded to Si atoms or its hydrolyzate. In those formulas, R is a polyfluorohydrocarbon group optionally contg. an ether oxygen atom; X is a hydrocarbon group optionally having an ether oxygen atom inserted between carbon atoms; R is a monovalent org. group: Y is a hydrolyzable or isocyanate group; a>=1; and b is 1-3. The ratio of the number of fluorine atoms of R to that of hydrogen atoms of the corresponding hydrocarbon group is at least 60%, pref. 100%, and the number of carbon atoms is pref. 4-12. This surface treatment is dissolved in an acetic ester solvent, etc., in a concn. of 0.05-10 wt.%, and then is used.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively use light energy such as solar light and sufficiently provide stain decomposing and hazing-preventive properties to various kinds of substrates such as glass, tiles, etc., by forming a solid acid on a semiconductive photocatalyst surface. SOLUTION: This catalyst having excellent stain-proof, hazing-preventive, mildewproof, deodorizing, and anti-bacterial properties is produced by forming a solid acid on a semiconductive photocatalyst surface and the semiconductor photocatalyst is preferably an oxide semiconductor and especially one or more substances selected from TiO2 , Bi2 O3 , In2 O3 , WO3 , ZnO, SrTiO3 , etc., are used. Also, the solid acid to be used consists of oxides as a carrier (carrier oxides) and oxides (deposited oxides) deposited on the surface of the carrier and as the carrier oxides, one or more oxides selected fromZrO2 , SrTiO3 , Fe2 'O3 , HfO2 , SiO2 , etc., are preferable and as the deposited oxides, one or more oxides selected from SO4 , WO3 , MoO3 , and B2 O3 are preferable.
