Abstract: PURPOSE: To execute security operation by providing a signalizing processor with two input ports for receiving a data block and a signalizing key, an output port for a signalized data block and a reference table. CONSTITUTION: In order to eliminate a complementarity characteristics to deteriorate communication security, an external function having no complementarity is applied to a data signalizing standard DES processor. A non-linear function f1 is applied to a data stream X by a reference table or digital circuit 20. A non-linear function f2 is applied to a signalizing key K through a reference table or circuit 22. A synthetic data stream X' and a signalizing key K' are processed by a processor 10 and the data stream X' is signalized and outputted through a line 15. A non-linear function f3 is applied to the signalized output through a reference table or a digital circuit 24. Thereby a final output Y' can be obtained on a line 16. Thus security operation is executed and the intensity of ciphering is not reduced.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retrieve a program guide from a receiver by transferring the IPG(interactive program guide) data in segments to a subscriber receiver in accordance with an IPG data transfer schedule. SOLUTION: All basic data segments 30 are transferred in a prescribed sequence. A 1st schedule data segment 31 is transferred to a 1st time slot. A 1st basic data segment 32 is transferred in a prescribed sequence and within a gap of a period sufficient to enable a receiver to allocate a memory space for storing all schedule data segments to the 1st time slot. A 1st description data segment 34 for the 1st time slot is transferred. The next basic data segment 35 is transferred in a prescribed sequence and within a gap of a period sufficient to enable the receiver to allocate a memory space for storing all description data segments to the 1st time slot.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robust and inexpensive system for eliminating nonlinear distortion in a transmission signal. SOLUTION: A media access controller(MAC) 12 controlled by a CPU 10 controls and matches various states of transmitted and received data. A transmission signal is transmitted from the MAC 12 to a QAM modulator 14, is next subjected to RF conversion by an up-converter 16 and transmitted through a two-way HFC(hybrid fiber/coaxial) network 22. In a signal received by a return path receiver 20, received noise is analyzed by an internal DSP(digital signal processing) and changes in an interference peak are transmitted from the receiver to a transmitter while the signal is parallely subjected to A/D conversion and demodulation. The transmitter preliminarily distorts the transmission signal so as to emphasize a signal size in accordance with the change. The receiver receiving such a signal eliminates interference by removing preliminary distortion and performing demodulation.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform convolutional coding of digital data having a convolutional code of a coding ratio 5/8 by using a specific punctured coded map. SOLUTION: A code of a coding ratio 5/8 is obtained by using a punctured coded map which is shown by an expression and performing punctured coding of a convolutional code of a coding ratio 1/2 based on octal generators 133 and 171 into a coding ratio 5/8. The constraint length K of a code of the coding ratio 1/2 is seven (K=7). Since a state number is defined with 2K-1 here, a trader concerned can understand that the state number of a code of a coding ratio 1/2 is sixty-four. And, a full effective coding ratio 3/4 is given by combining 8-bit coding bits obtained from 5-bit input bits by coding of the coding ratio 5/8 and 4-bit uncoded bits.

A set top terminal 70 receives and processes the data stream according to a command of the user. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for transmission high-speed isochronal data of MPEG-2 data stream by which the complexity or cost of receiver can be reduced by applying a clock increase value to an isochronal data header and specifying the rate of isochronal data velocity to a system clock frequency. SOLUTION: Velocity, length and increase information 56 of ISO header 16 following a PES header 14 of MPEG-2 data stream contains a data velocity flag, isochronal data header length field and increase field specifying the rate of isochronal data velocity to the system clock frequency. The clock increase value to be transmitted while being inserted into the increase field is used as information for the decoder of receiver to generate the desired clock frequency. Thus, the transmission method for high-speed isochronal data of MPEG-2 data stream, with which the decoder of receiver can be simplified at low cost, can be provided.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To incrementally deliver authenticated access rights to an access control processor by using an effective instruction for maintaining the track of an authenticated access right used for performing access to a data system. SOLUTION: Decoded signals are inputted to a decryptor 20 through a terminal 10 and an enciphering key is inputted to a processor 14 through a terminal 12. The decryptor 20 receives a working key required for decoding input data from the processor 14. The processor 14 stores various kinds of data containing a specific key, an access right, and on effective instruction in a memory 16 and compares a newly obtained key with a preceding key stored in the memory 16 by means of a comparator 22. Then processor 14 limits the access under the latest encrypting key to that given by the access right contained in a storing bank having the effective instruction in an effective state for the key by using the compared results for setting the state of the effective instruction.
