PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method of manufacturing tetrahydrofuran from 1,4-butanediol by using an acid catalyst, which can suppress reduction of reaction rate and a production amount of a solid by-product, and stably achieve high productivity.SOLUTION: There is provided a method of manufacturing tetrahydrofuran having a water concentration in a reactor liquid phase of 1.4 to 10 wt.% by supplying 1,4-butanediol to a reaction vessel and conducting a cyclodehydration reaction in the presence of an acid catalyst.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a industrially profitable method for producing a polyether polyol improved in coloring without reducing producibility when the polyether polyol is obtained by performing a ring-opening polymerization reaction of a mixture of tetrahydrofuran and another cyclic ether copolymerizable with it in the presence of a catalyst. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the polyether polyol, a concentration of 1-5C ketones contained in another cyclic ether copolymerizable with the tetrahydrofuran is 500 wt.ppm or less. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous manufacturing method for tetrahydrofuran comprising manufacturing tetrahydrofuran from 1,4-butanediol as a raw material using an acid catalyst having a pKa value of 4 or lower that permits avoidance of deposition of a solid byproduct to stably attain high productivity.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for tetrahydrofuran comprises feeding 1,4-butanediol as a raw material into a reactor and carrying out a dehydrative cyclization reaction in the presence of an acid catalyst having a pKa value of 4 or lower to obtain tetrahydrofuran as a product, where the absorbance measured at one or more wavelengths selected within the measurement wavelength range of 650-750 nm is at least 0.01 and at most 3.0 based on the UV spectrum of the solution in the reactor.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for producing tetrahydrofuran by cyclodehydration reaction of 1,4-butanediol as a raw material, which can suppress reduction of reaction rate and stably achieve high productivity.SOLUTION: This production method of tetrahydrofuran comprises steps of: preparing a catalyst liquid by dissolving an acid with ≤4 pKa using 1,4-butanediol or tetrahydrofuran with 0.003-20.0 wt.% water content; preserving the catalyst liquid and thereafter, feeding the catalyst liquid to a reactor together with the raw material 1,4-butanediol; and conducting cyclodehydration reaction in the reactor to obtain tetrahydrofuran as the product.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing tetrahydrofuran (THF) which reduces reduction of a reaction speed and the amount of solid by-products to be generated, can obtain stably high productivity and is advantageous industrially, regarding the method of manufacturing THF from 1,4-butanediol using an acid catalyst.SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing THF is characterized in that, when producing THF by supplying 1,4-butanediol of a raw material to a reaction tank and performing cyclodehydration reaction in the presence of sulfonic acid, a gas containing THF and water in the reaction tank is introduced into a heat exchanger and while supplying a part of a condensate obtained from an outlet of the heat exchanger to a gas phase part of the reaction tank, the remaining condensate is extracted to the outside of the reaction tank.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerization method of a cyclic ether for stably obtaining a target product (polyoxyalkylene ether glycol) with the number average molecular weight of 500-4,000, which is useful for a material of an elastic fiber and a thermoplastic elastomer polyester elastomer, without producing any high molecular weight body in the start of a ring-opening polymerization reaction of the cyclic ether.SOLUTION: In a polymerization method of a cyclic ether, an ester of polyoxyalkylene ether glycol is obtained as a target product when ring-opening polymerization of a cyclic ether as a raw material is carried out in the presence of a carboxylic acid anhydride inside a polymerization reactor while using a ring-opening polymerization catalyst. In the polymerization method, the cyclic ether as a raw material and the ring-opening polymerization catalyst are supplied to the polymerization reactor while being prevented from mutual contact beforehand, and then, the ring-opening polymerization is started.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably carrying out a hydrogenation purification of a crude 1,4-butanediol obtained by distilling hydrolyzed solution and reacting butadiene with acetic acid and oxygen in the presence of a catalyst to produce a reaction product containing 1,4-diacetoxybutene, hydrogenating the reaction product, and hydrolyzing the hydrogenated product. SOLUTION: The crude 1,4-butanediol having ≤0.5 wt.% concentration of 2-(4'-hydroxybutoxy)tetrahydrofuran based on the amount of the 1,4-butanediol is extracted from a lower part of a distillation column of a hydrolyzed liquid as a side stream, and the extracted crude 1,4-butanediol is subjected to the hydrogenation reaction.
