Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus efficiently reducing image blur and image deletion due to an electric discharge product adhering to the surface of a photosensitive member. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 includes: a photosensitive member 1, a charging member 2 electrically charging the photosensitive member, a bias applying means S1 applying a charging bias to the charging member for generating electric discharge to the photosensitive member, an exposure means 3 exposing the photosensitive member charged by the charging member, and a developing means 4 developing an electrostatic image formed in the photosensitive member by the exposure means. The image forming apparatus 100 also includes: a detection means 14 detecting information corresponding to a surface potential of the photosensitive member caused by applying direct current voltage lower than a discharge starting voltage to the charging member, and a control means 13 performing control to determine whether to start a mode for removing the electric discharge product adhering to the photosensitive member according to the detection result by the detection means. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of instantly forming an image while suppressing generation of uneven image pitch, even after the rotation of a cleaning body has stopped for a long time. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an intermediate transfer belt for, by rotation thereof, transferring a toner image on a surface thereof; a cleaning section for removing remaining toner after the transfer by rotation of a cleaning brush which touches the surface of the intermediate transfer belt in accordance with the transfer of the toner image; a current supply section for supplying a cleaning current (I2) having a predetermined value to the cleaning brush in accordance with the rotation of the cleaning brush; and a control section for controlling them. The control section obtains a current time T1 and a previous rotation end time T2 of the cleaning brush (S37, S39), and when a time period during which the cleaning brush has not rotated, which is calculated from the current time T1 and the rotation end time T2, is equal to or longer than a predetermined time period (S41: YES), sets the cleaning current to "I1" (S43). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image carrier cleaning device which further effectively removes residual non-transferred toner remaining on an image carrier after a transfer operation, prevents banding and image omission during transfer, and suppresses chattering or curling of a cleaning member. SOLUTION: The cleaning device for a photoreceptor 2 includes at least: a charging roller 3a which charges the photoreceptor 2 to the same negative polarity as that of toner after transfer operation of a toner image formed by the negatively charged toner; a cleaning blade 4a which comes in contact with the photoreceptor 2 charged by the charging roller 3a and removes the residual non-transferred toner remaining on the photoreceptor 2 after the transfer operation; and a corona charger 5a which applies an electric charge having a polarity opposite to the polarity of the toner to the photoreceptor 2 having passed through the cleaning blade 4a. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress upsizing of an image forming apparatus by suppressing excessive current from flowing to a recovery means such as a cleaning roller. SOLUTION: When a recovery current (including a flow-in current) exceeds a first predetermined current value, a transfer current is made larger than before. Consequently, the flow-in current is prevented from flowing between a photoreceptor drum 7A and the cleaning roller 7C. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus equipped with a cleaner-less system, whose manufacture cost and life are made rational while keeping high image quality by rationally distributing load imposed on a photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The photoreceptors 3A to 3D arranged from an upstream side on a transfer belt 11 are respectively provided with toner stirring rollers 2A to 2D between a transfer position and electrifying rollers 1A to 1D. The toner stirring strength of the rollers 2A to 2D is increased in order of rollers 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
