The present invention relates to a method for making a heat-resistant elastic article and a heat-resistant elastic article. The invention especially relates to a method of making elastic fibers and polymeric elastic fibers wherein the elastic fibers are capable of withstanding dyeing and heat-setting processes that typically are conducted at elevated temperatures (such as 110-230° C. and especially at greater than or equal to 130° C. for minutes). The inventive method comprises radiation crosslinking an article (or plurality of articles) under an inert or oxygen limited atmosphere (for example, in N2, argon, helium, carbon dioxide, xenon and/or a vacuum) wherein the article (or articles) comprises at least one amine stabilizer and preferably another optional stabilizer additive. More preferably, the radiation crosslinking is performed at a low temperature (-50 to 40° C.). The elastic article (or articles) comprises a homogeneously branched ethylene interpolymer (preferably a substantially linear ethylene interpolymer), a substantially hydrogenated block polymer, or a combination of the two. The heat-resistant elastic articles (especially fibers) are useful in various durable or repeated-use fabric applications such as, but not limited to, clothing, under-garments, and sports apparel. The heat-resistant elastic fibers can be conveniently formed into fabrics using well-known techniques such as, for example, by using co-knitting techniques with cotton, nylon, and/or polyester fibers.

A hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer composition for overmolding onto a polar substrate is provided, comprising: a) 100 pbw of a hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer having at least two resinous endblocks of polymerized monovinyl arene and an elastomeric midblock of polymerized and subsequently hydrogenated conjugated diene or dienes, b) from 25 to 60 pbw of a functionalized polyolefin, and optionally c) from 0 to 100 pbw of a plasticizer, d) from 0 to 200 pbw of one or more fillers and filler deactivators, e) from 0 to 2 pbw of antioxidants, f) from 0 to 100 pbw of a polar engineering thermoplast, wherein component (a) is a linear hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer having an apparent molecular weight in the range of from 200,000 to 500,000 or a radial hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer having an apparent molecular weight in the range of from n times 100,000 to 250,000, n equals the number of polymer arms, and component (a) has a content of hydrogenated 1,2- polymerized conjugated dienes (vinyl content) of greater than 40% and a content of poly(monovinyl arene) in the range of from 20 to 50%,and component (b) is an acid, anhydride or ester functionalized polyolefin having a grafting level of 0.5 to 5%w and a melt flow rate (MFR, ASTM D 1238-95 at Condition L) equal to or greater than 20 g/10 minutes.

The present invention relates to articles prepared from novel anionic block copolymers of mono alkenyl arenes and conjugated dienes, and to blends of such block copolymers with other polymers. The block copolymers are selectively hydrogenated and have mono alkenyl arene end blocks and conjugated diene mid blocks. The block copolymer may be blended with at least one other polymer selected from the group consisting of olefin polymers, styrene polymers, amorphous resins and engineering thermoplastic resins.

Internally lubricated polymer compositions containing a styrene- and/or polyphenylene ether-containing polymer, an olefin-containing polymer, and a compatibilizer are provided. The olefin-containing polymer, which is present in the compositions in about 3 to about 30 weight percent, provides internal lubrication and improves the tribological properties of the compositions compared with the styrene or polyphenylene ether-containing polymer alone, as determined by wear measurements. Preferred compositions exhibit wear factors less than about 130 x 10-11 mm5/Pa-m. A preferred composition includes a blend of polystyrene/polyphenylene ether, linear low density polyethylene, and styrene-ethylene-butadiene-styrene. Methods are also provided for improving tribological properties of styrene- and/or polyphenylene ether- containing base polymers by incorporating into the base polymers at least one olefin-containing polymer and at least one compatibilizer, or by incorporating at least one substantially halogen-free internal lubricant.

CONSTITUTION: The elastomer composition comprises a rubber component comprising at least one of a diene rubber and an EPDM rubber; 200 parts by weight of a mixture composition comprising a hydrogenated styrene thermoplastic elastomer and an olefin resin; and 2-100 parts by weight of a styrene thermoplastic elastomer containing a partially remaining double bond, wherein the rubber component is dispersed by dynamic crosslinking in the mixture composition where the styrene thermoplastic elastomer is dispersed. Preferably the ratio of the rubber component to the mixture composition is 100 : 2-100 by weight, and the rubber component is dynamically crosslinked by a resin crosslinking agent.

CONSTITUTION: The thermoplastic polymer composition comprises (A) ethylene-vinyl alcohol compolymer; (B) polymer mixture including block copolymer(I) consisting of aromatic vinyl polymer block and conjugated diene polymer block and rubber softener(II); and (C) polyolefine resin. Amounts of all components satisfy the following relations: £A|:£B| = 10:90 - 50:50, £I|:£II| = 30:70 - 90:10, (£A|+£B|):£C| = 100:0 - 100:30. The thermoplastic polymer composition has ISO type hardness of 30 to 90 and oxygen transmission constant of 20,000ml·20μm/m¬2·day·atm or less.

CONSTITUTION: The profile gasket composition comprises a base resin composed of: 8-15 parts by weight of a dynamic crosslinked product or a blended elastomer (Semi-IPN) of a synthetic rubber and polypropylene; 10-20 parts by weight of a metallocene olefin elastomer; 2.13-10.3 parts by weight of polymethylmethacrylate; 0.6-6 parts by weight of a hydrogenated thermoplastic resin(HSBC); and 2-10 parts by weight of a mixture containing a hydrogenated resin and a thermoplastic urethane, as an adhesive resin. The composition further comprises a filler, a plasticizer and other additives. Additionally, the profile gasket(1) comprises an assembling part disposed at the lower part of a gasket base(11) for attaching the gasket(1) to an adherent such as a refrigerator door; a sealing part(31) for sealing between the door and an opening support; and an elastic supporting part for supporting the sealing part on the base, wherein the elastic supporting part is formed with the composition.
