Abstract: A grease for a sliding bearing capable of suppressing noise resulting from a slippages between a shaft and the bearing in stopping a machine. The grease (24) for the sliding bearing is supplied between the sliding bearing (16) formed of a porous sintered alloy bush having a lubricating oil (31) impregnated in the pores (30) thereof and the shaft (22) inserted into the sliding bearing (16) and rotatingly slidably supported thereon in the circumferential direction. The grease is characterized in that it uses a base oil having a dynamic viscosity at 40°C of 10 to 70 mm2/s and oozed by the load of the shaft (22) to form an oil film (35) between the sliding bearing (16) and the shaft (22).

Abstract: A tungsten disulfide powder comprised of macro-spherical particles of tungsten disulfide having an average particle diameter of from about 5 to about 50 micrometers is prepared by successively treating spray-dried powders of ammonium metatungstate with heat in air and sulfidizing the resultant tungsten trioxide in a carbon disulfide-containing atmosphere at about 750 °C. The tungsten disulfide powder may also be formed to have a bimodal particle size distribution of the macro-spherical particles and smaller, dispersed micro- to submicron-sized fine particles.

Abstract: A method for forming a solid film lubricant on the surface of a part having an arbitrary shape is provided. The method for forming a solid film lubricant includes: preparing a carrier having a predetermined shape and size; coating lubricant powder on the carrier; and coating the lubricant powder over the surface of the part by physical contact between the carrier coated with the lubricant powder and the part. The solid film lubricant has uniform thickness and excellent adhesion regardless of the shape of a target part. Lubrication of the solid film lubricant lasts for a longer period of time without supply of lubricant oil, and under high-load and high-speed operating conditions. Therefore, the solid film lubricant is applicable to a variety of parts widely used in aerospace, defense, and high-precision industries.
