CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for banding a strip coil (C) in which a strip coil produced in a hot and cold rolling plant is wound at a winder, and the strip coil is transferred to a coil bander through a hydraulic cylinder (114) for transferring a coil car, the apparatus comprises a hydraulic cylinder (114) for transferring a coil car equipped with the sensor (10) sensing the position of the strip coil (C); a sensor (10) transmitting electrical signals to the controller (20); a controller (20) operating a proportional control valve (40) of hydraulic circuit for operating the hydraulic cylinder (114) correspondingly to signals of the sensor (10), thereby changing the position of the strip coil (C) inside the coil bander so that the strip coil is multi-banded by the coil bander. The method comprises the steps of transferring a strip coil to a coil bander using a coil car (112); judging whether or not to multiband the coil; transferring the coil to a multi-one time banding position with a coil car when coil is multi-banded; banding the coil once using the coil bander; transferring the coil to a two time bending position by a coil car; bending the coil twice using the coil bander; and judging whether the coil is banded to a desirable number of times.

The direction of the strip coil is switched at 90degrees by the weight. The strip coil is rolled by rotatively falling from the supporting plate (12). A scrap and a sleeve are separated. After the operations, the supporting coil (12) is returned. Thereby, the productivity is improved and the operation is performed safely.

Therefore, a defect of a product is prevented and the safety and the productivity of the product transferring operation are secured.
