PURPOSE: A gypsum based light weight mortar composition is provided to reduce construction material cost by including expanded polystyrene having a small apparent density. CONSTITUTION: A gypsum based light weight mortar composition comprises foam polystyrene. The gypsum based light weight mortar composition additionally includes cellulose ether. The viscosity of 2 weight% of aqueous solution of the cellulose ether is 1,000-200,000cps measured at 20 deg. Celsius and at 20 rpm when the viscosity is measured by using a Brookfield viscometer. The gypsum based light weight mortar composition comprises 20-90 parts by weight of gypsum, 0.1-3 parts by weight of foam polystyrene, 0-20 parts by weight of calcium hydroxide, 0-40 parts by weight of slaked lime stone, and 9-60 parts by weight of coarse dust limestone. The particle diameter of the gypsum is 0.5mm or less. The foam polystyrene has the apparent density of 2-20g/L and the particle diameter of 0.2-2.5 mm. The particle diameter of the calcium hydroxide is 0.5mm or less. The particle diameter of the slaked lime stone is 0.5mm or less. And the coarse dust limestone has a grain size of greater than 0.5mm and 1.5mm or less.

CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing environmentally-friendly wall paint material comprises: a step of mixing 20-25% of diatomite, 1-2% of anion stone; 5-10% of dolomite, and 5-10% of acrylic resin; a step of adding mixture of blast furnace slag and gypsum in a ratio of 1: 2.5-3; and a step of mixing the total mixture with water in a ratio of 70:30-50:50 and adjusting viscosity. The gypsum and diatomite are pulverized in 300-400 mesh of particle.

This invention is directed to a method of reducing the water demand of expanded perlite that includes obtaining a vibrating screen supported at an angle and placing expanded perlite on the vibrating screen. The expanded perlite is moved over the screen past toward a burner at a rate that heats the expanded perlite to a temperature sufficient to anneal it. The expanded perlite is then moved away from the burner and allowed to cool. Another embodiment of this invention is directed to a method of making a gypsum product. The method includes annealing perlite by the method described above, then preparing a slurry of calcium sulfate hemihydrate, additives, water and the annealed perlite. The slurry is formed into the shape of the gypsum product and allowed to set. This process is particularly useful in making gypsum panels and acoustical panels that benefit from the use of lightweight materials.

A mixture composition of a cellulose ether made from raw cotton linters and at least one additive is used in a dry tile cement composition wherein the amount of the cellulose ether in the tile cement composition is significantly reduced. When this tile cement composition is mixed with water and applied to a substrate, the correction time, applicability, and sag resistance of the wet mortar are comparable or improved as compared to when using conventional similar cellulose ethers.
