Abstract:
A feeding device, especially for a honing tool, in which a frame is formed with a cylinder having a piston mounted therein and to which is connected a spindle or feed rod having the tools mounted thereon. The piston will effect rapid advance and retraction of the feed rod while the connection of the piston to the feed rod embodies threaded means which can be adjusted incrementally or manually to effect fine feeding movement of the tools following the rapid advance thereof. Automatic control means are provided for controlling the incremental feeding of the tools and for compensating for tool wear.
Abstract:
To insure that cylindrical bores, and particularly blind bores (8) in a workpiece (9) are truly cylindrical, or of predetermined geometry even in the region adjacent the bottom of the blind bores, a honing blade carrier (4) has a set of long honing blades (5, 5a) of about the length of the bore and a set of short honing blades (6, 6a) located adjacent the bottom of the bore on the tool, with the short honing blades being independently adjustable; sensing elements (25, 26, 27) are integrated with the tool carrier (4) to sense the dimension of the bore at various levels or planes (A, B, C), the output signal from the plane (C) of the bottom of the bore being processed in a controlled channel (32) to adjust, individually, the honing pressure exerted by the short blades, in relation to tool feed, and hone the bottom of the bore to the appropriate size, as determined, for example, by a sample standard (28) having a sensing plane (D) which can be sensed by the same sensing elements as those which sense the bore, upon withdrawal of the honing tool carrier through the standard (28).
Abstract:
An apparatus for holding of workpieces with at least one vertical bore, particularly for holding a connecting rod, for a honing operation. The apparatus includes two workpiece receiving plates between which the workpiece is insertable with horizontal and vertical play. The workpiece receiving plates have an opening for receiving the honing tool. A holding device is provided and is fixable relative to a workpiece receiving plate; vertically the holding device engages the workpiece free of play at a slight engagement pressure. The holding device is freely movable toward the workpiece in a first direction, and is immovable in the opposite direction. The honing device comprises at least one angle lever, which is tiltable or pivotally journalled relative to a workpiece receiving plate, has one arm engaging against the workpiece, and has the other arm connected with a device which restrains the angle lever in the release or loosening direction.
