    Abstract: Audio data is captured, then filtered to extract text data and print commands. The audio data is captured by sensing the audio data, generating an analog audio data signal in response to the sensed audio data, and digitizing the analog audio data signal into captured audio data. The text data is converted to electronic text. The electronic text is accumulated in a text buffer. Audio data is captured and filtered to extract text data and print comments until a print command is extracted from the audio data. When a print command is extracted from the audio data, the accumulated electronic text is translated into a rendered document. The electronic text is either translated alone or with a form template. The rendered document is printed and the text buffer is purged.

    Abstract: A computer peripheral device is prevented from being in power save mode by either forcing the peripheral device out of power save mode or preventing the peripheral device from entering power save mode. A timing mechanism tracks time. The timing mechanism either tracks the time of day, the day of the week, an elapsed time, or a combination of these times.     Abstract: The method of the invention enables installation of a network printer onto a client processor and employs a server for managing printer installations. Initially, the server receives a printer identifier message from the network printer and then creates an executable installation program using identifier information from the printer identifier message. Thereafter, the server transmits an e-mail message to the client processor, which e-mail message includes an executable printer driver installation program. Upon receipt of the e-mail message, the client processor recognizes the executable installation program and, upon installation thereof, to utilize the network printer.

    Abstract: This invention allows a selected type of network device or resource (e.g. printers) to be discovered on a subnetwork and on remote subnetworks on a network. A broadcast message is sent requesting a response from each host on the subnetwork with a file having a listing of the device.
