Abstract: In accordance with a method of communicating telemetry data employed by a risk-adaptive telemetry system, a medical device risk that a medical device will malfunction is assessed. A patient risk that the health of a patient using the medical device will fall below a predetermined acceptable level is also assessed. Telemetry data from the medical device is received, where type, amount and/or frequency of the telemetry data that is received is based at least in part on the assessed medical device risk and the patient risk.
