Abstract: An energy storage apparatus includes: an external terminal 51; an energy storage cell 62; a current interruption device 53 that has one end electrically connected to the external terminal 51 and the other end electrically connected to the energy storage cell 62; a discharge circuit 110 that discharges electricity from the energy storage cell 62 via a path that does not pass through the current interruption device 53; and a failure diagnosis device 150. The failure diagnosis device 150 discharges electricity from the energy storage cell 62 using the discharge circuit 110, and diagnoses a failure of the current interruption device 53 based on a change in voltage ΔV1 of the external terminal 51 before and after discharging electricity.
