Abstract: A sheet handling device disclosed here includes a receiving port, a transport mechanism that transports a sheet received into a housing through the receiving port, and a recognition circuit having a first passing port and a second passing port through which the sheet transported by the transport mechanism passes and recognizing the sheet passing the first passing port and the second passing port. The first passing port is positioned apart from the receiving port in a first direction. The transport mechanism has a first path which is part of a transport path connecting the receiving port and the first passing port to each other. The first path is inclined, with respect to the first direction, apart from the first passing port while extending from the receiving port to the first passing port.

Abstract: A sheet processing apparatus according to the present disclosure includes: an inlet configured to receive a sheet; an outlet configured to eject the sheet; a conveyance mechanism configured to convey the sheet between the inlet and the outlet; a recognition unit configured to recognize the sheet; and at least one recycling chamber configured to store the sheet. The conveyance mechanism includes a first conveyance mechanism configured to convey downward the sheet received from the inlet, and a second conveyance mechanism connecting between the first conveyance mechanism and the outlet and configured to convey upward the sheet conveyed from the first conveyance mechanism. The recognition unit is disposed on a conveyance path on which the sheet is conveyed by the first conveyance mechanism. The at least one recycling chamber is connected to the second conveyance mechanism.
