Abstract: The invention concerns apparatus for making a plurality of duplicate copies from master recordings by using a magnetic transfer technique, particularly involving the steps of applying pressure between a master media and a blank copy media, thereafter moving an assembly of permanent magnets across the superimposed media to effect transfer of the information from the master media to the copy media by utilizing a one-way clutch mechanism interposed between the driving mechanisms and the permanent magnet assembly, all of the foregoing being accomplished by movement of a single operating member accessible to the operator and subsequently, due primarily to the clutch relationship with the permanent magnet assembly, releasing the magnet assembly at the end of its travel, thereby reducing inertia effects that would otherwise be objectionable from a loading standpoint.
