    Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to realize a display device of high definition and high contrast by applying an accurate local dimming. The structure of the invention is as follows. A display device including: a display panel and a back light, in which the back light includes a light source and an optical sheet group, the light source includes a light source substrate and LEDs disposed on the light source substrate, the light source is divided into segments in a plan view, at least one of the LEDs is disposed in a segment, the light source substrate and the LEDs are covered by a transparent resin, and a groove like gap is formed in the transparent resin along a border between the segments.

    Abstract: A backlight includes: a light source capable of emitting light spreading in first and second directions perpendicular to each other, from an optical axis; a first cylindrical lens that refracts and brings the light closer along the first direction to the optical axis, the first cylindrical lens overlapping with the light source in a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions; a second cylindrical lens that refracts and brings the light even closer along the first direction to the optical axis, the second cylindrical lens overlapping with the light source and the first cylindrical lens in the third direction; and a reflector that reflects and brings the light closer along the second direction to the optical axis, the reflector being positioned between the first cylindrical lens and the second cylindrical lens in the third direction, the reflector avoiding overlap with the light source.

    Abstract: According to an aspect, an illumination device includes: a plurality of light-emitting elements arrayed in a matrix along two directions; and a substrate on which the light-emitting elements are provided. The substrate has a plurality of partial regions. The light-emitting elements are arranged in the partial regions such that four light-emitting elements are arrayed in a two-by-two matrix along the two directions in each of the partial regions.
