Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst layer for a fuel cell, a method for producing the catalyst layer, and a membrane-electrode assembly and a fuel cell including the catalyst layer. More particularly, the invention relates to a catalyst layer for a fuel cell, the catalyst layer including a catalyst, a heat dissipation material, and an ionomer and having an effect that the heat generated by an exothermic reaction in the catalyst layer can be efficiently discharged to the outside and a phenomenon of deterioration of a membrane-electrode assembly caused by temperature increase in the catalyst layer can be suppressed; a method for producing the catalyst layer; and a membrane-electrode assembly and a fuel cell, both including the catalyst layer.

Abstract: Disclosed are a membrane-electrode assembly for fuel cells, a method of manufacturing the same and a fuel cell system containing the same. The membrane-electrode assembly for fuel cells includes an anode and a cathode facing each other, and a polymer electrolyte membrane interposed between the anode and the cathode, wherein at least one of the anode and the cathode further includes a porous support and a catalyst layer for fuel cells disposed on one surface of the porous support. The electrode of the membrane-electrode assembly is a free-standing electrode, and the electrode has excellent adhesivity to the polymer electrolyte membrane and thus can prevent performance deterioration resulting from detachment of the electrode from the polymer electrolyte membrane during operation of fuel cells, and in particular, can secure high durability since the electrode is not readily detached even under harsh operation environments.

Abstract: Provided is a membrane-electrode assembly having improved binding strength between a polymer electrolyte membrane and a catalyst layer and improved durability of the catalyst layer. An embodiment of the present invention provides a membrane-electrode assembly including a polymer electrolyte membrane and a catalyst layer disposed on at least one surface of the polymer electrolyte membrane, wherein the catalyst layer contains a first composite and a second composite; the first composite contains a first catalyst containing a support and first metal particles supported on the support, and a first ionomer coated on the surface of the first catalyst; the second composite contains a second catalyst that contains second metal particles and is not supported on a support, and a second ionomer that is not coated on the surface of the second catalyst; and the first ionomer and the second ionomer are identical with or different from each other.

Abstract: According to a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a membrane-electrode assembly of the present invention, positioning holes are formed through a multi-layered lamination of an electrolyte membrane, electrodes, and sub-gasket films, in an area which is not included in a final product, and manifold holes of the membrane-electrode assembly are then quickly and accurately formed on the basis of the positioning holes. Therefore, the present invention can increase the productivity while lowering the defect rate of the membrane-electrode assembly.
