    Abstract: A cutting unit of a shaving head of a shaving device, which cutting unit includes an external cutting member and an internal cutting member. In an interconnected condition, a holding force prevents the external and internal cutting members from moving apart. The holding force is at least exerted by a first central portion of the external cutting member upon a second central portion of the internal cutting member, and/or vice versa. The holding force may for example be provided by a snap connection or magnetic attraction between the first and second central portions.

    Abstract: A system for determining an orientation of a first device relative to a user includes a first device including a first orientation measuring unit configured to measure an orientation of the first device relative to the earth, a second device configured to be worn by the user on a body part. The second device includes a second orientation measuring unit configured to measure an orientation of the second device relative to the earth. The system also has a processor configured to calculate an orientation of the first device relative to the second device by comparing the measured orientation of the first device relative to the earth with the measured orientation of the second device relative to the earth.

    Abstract: A grooming appliance (100) comprising: a grooming mechanism (102) for grooming a user; a motor (104) arranged to operate the grooming mechanism; and a controller (106) configured to modulate a data signal into sound produced by the grooming appliance during the operation of the grooming mechanism by the motor, in order to transmit information relating to the grooming appliance. In embodiments, the sound being modulated is caused by the motor when operating the grooming mechanism. In this case the controller is arranged to supply a drive signal to the motor in order to control the motor, and to perform the modulation by varying the drive signal in order to modulate the data signal into the sound caused by the motor during operation of the grooming mechanism.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an electric shaver (1) comprising a cutter unit (3), an electric motor (4) arranged to drive the cutter unit (3), a load detector (14) arranged to measure at least one electric parameter indicative of a power consumption of the motor (4) to obtain a measured value. An idle load calculator (16) receives one or more of the measured values measured at different instances during an idle period of the shaver. The idle load calculator calculates an idle load value using the one or more measured values, and stores the calculated idle load value in a memory (17). A threshold calculator (18) determines a cleaning threshold value. A comparator (19) generates a cleaning signal if an idle load value for the current shaving session exceeds the cleaning threshold value. An alerter (8) receiving the cleaning signal produces an alert indicating to a user that the cutter unit of the shaver should be cleaned.
