Abstract: A plastics material container for holding liquids, in particular beverages, having a bottom section, a main body adjoining the bottom section that forms a holding volume that extends in a longitudinal direction of the plastics material container, a shoulder region adjoining the main body in the longitudinal direction, in which a cross-section in the longitudinal direction is reduced and with a mouth region which adjoins the shoulder region in the longitudinal direction, in which a mouth is formed, via which a liquid can be supplied to the container, wherein the shoulder region and the mouth region are arranged in an upper section of the plastics material container in relation to the longitudinal direction. The container has a deformation section in the upper section and in the longitudinal direction below the mouth section, in which deformation section the plastics material container is elastically deformable with respect to its longitudinal direction.
