摘要： An information processing apparatus in which arbitrary removal of a device for processing information accommodated within an opening within the main body can be prevented, regardless of operation of an eject button or the like, and to provide an information processing apparatus in which such prevention can be realized in a simple structure and at a low cost. A removal preventing latch is provided and inserted into an aperture within the main body of the information processing apparatus and through a corresponding aperture within the device for processing information. A cover for the main body may then be selectively locked in a closed position, preventing removal of the removal preventing latch while the cover is closed. A keyboard is preferably mounted to the cover for the main body.

摘要： An information processing apparatus is provided which includes a hard disk drive which is adapted to be accommodated within a main body of the information processing apparatus. The hard disk drive includes a movable member attached thereto. When the movable member slides into a first state, a portion of the movable member protrudes outside the main body of the information processing apparatus. A hinged keyboard is provided for covering the interior of the main body of the information processing apparatus and when the portion of the movable member protrudes outside the main body, the hinged keyboard is locked in a closed state. Additionally, a preventing latch is provided which may be utilized in conjunction with a card port in order to engage a PCMCIA card and prevent removal thereof. The preventing member is mounted under the keyboard such that when the keyboard is in a closed state, the PCMCIA card cannot be removed. In this manner, when the keyboard is closed and the movable member slides to the first state removal of hard disk drive assembly, or other subassemblies within the computer can be efficiently prevented.

摘要： An installation/removal structure for use with a generally rectangular peripheral device which may be temporarily installed within a portable data processing system. An engagement structure is provided within an interior portion of the portable data processing system and an electrical connector is mounted proximate to the engagement structure within the portable data processing system. An elongate flexible wire bail is swingably mounted across one end of the peripheral device, such that the elongate flexible wire bail can be engaged with the engagement structure by swinging the bail to a first position such that the peripheral device is held in electrical engagement with the electrical connector and when swung to a second position disengages from the engagement structure and may be utilized to remove the peripheral device from the portable data processing system.

A linking unit is included for interlocking with the security select switch, disabling a release switch to be operated with fixing the release switch of a subsystem holding bay when the security select switch is positioned at a first select position, disabling the release switch and an eject switch, separating the notebook PC from the extend unit, to be operated when the security select switch is positioned at a second select position, and enabling the release switch and eject switch to be operated without fixing the release switch and eject switch when the security select switch is positioned at a third select position.

摘要： An integrated manual control input device is provided for use in a computer system having a graphical user interface. The device comprises a keyboard unit having a plurality of keys, a pointing actuator mounted to the keyboard between preselected ones of the keys for engagement by a user's index finger, at least one click button assembly pivotably mounted to the keyboard unit adjacent the keys and a normally open momentary switch beneath the click button assembly. The click button assembly has a button moveable downwardly by a user's thumb to select an ON state and subsequently releasable to select an OFF state. The button is also moveable downwardly and slidable laterally in a rearward direction to select a locked ON state to facilitate a drag operation.

摘要： A latch mechanism which engages with a main body is provided at pivoting edges of a keyboard and a cover which are provided at the main body so as to be openable and closable. The latch mechanism includes a latch member which is movable from a first position, at which the cover and the keyboard are engaged with the main body, to a second position, at which the engaged state of the cover and the keyboard with the main body is released. The latch member releases only the engaged state of the main body and the cover at a third position which is between the first position and the second position. Further, the latch member is usually urged to the first position by a compression coil spring which deforms upwardly in a convex shape at the second position of the latch member.

摘要： A container having a body and a cover, in which the cover can be conveniently opened using only one hand from a latched state of the body and the cover. Engaging members between cover and body are movable under force, when the cover is closed, between an engaging position where the cover is engaged with said body and a releasing position where the cover is not engaged with the body. However, the engaging member cannot be returned to the engaging position while the cover is closed. Lock means prevent the engaging member from moving from the releasing position to the engaging position in spite of application of force. Once the cover is opened the engaging member moves from said releasing position to said engaging position.
