Abstract: A wireless power transmitting device according to an embodiment of the present specification transmits wireless power to a wireless power receiving device, and includes a power conversion circuit including a primary coil for transmitting the wireless power to the wireless power receiving device and a communication/control circuit for communicating with the wireless power receiving device and controlling the power conversion circuit, wherein, to detect foreign substances between the wireless power receiving device and the wireless power transmitting device, the communication/control circuit stops the transmission of the wireless power for a slot time, detects the foreign substances on the basis of a change in the voltage or current of the primary coil within the slot time, and sets the slot time to start from a point in time when the current of the primary coil is 0.

Further, the bit pattern response is composed of 8 bits, and the bit pattern response is defined as a different pattern from a bit pattern for an 8-bit ACK response, an 8-bit NAK response and an 8-bit ND response.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and method for supporting improved communication speed in a wireless power transmission system. The present specification provides a method comprising the steps of: generating wireless power at an operating frequency; configuring n, as the number of cycles per bit, which is used for transmitting one bit at the operating frequency; aligning each bit of the data with the n cycles; causing the operating frequency to transition between differential biphases according to the value of said each bit during the n cycles; and transmitting the wireless power to a wireless power receiving device on the basis of magnetic coupling at the transitioning operating frequency.

The method can further include transmitting, to the wireless power transmitter during a configuration phase, a configuration packet including first control information related to whether a wireless power receiver supports an authentication function to authenticate the wireless power transmitter; receiving, from the wireless power transmitter during a negotiation phase, a capability packet including second control information and a potential power value of the wireless power transmitter; and transmitting, to the wireless power transmitter during a power transfer phase, an authentication request message.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for performing handover between heterogeneous communication methods. A wireless power transmission apparatus and reception apparatus can indicate whether to support out-band communication thereof on the basis of an out-band flag. The wireless power transmission apparatus can request the wireless power reception apparatus to start a handover by using a bit pattern requesting the handover. The handover procedure to out-band may be performed in a negotiation phase or may be performed in a separate handover phase. Information for establishing an out-band communication connection can be transmitted from the wireless power reception apparatus to the wireless power transmission apparatus through in-band communication. Also, even after the handover to the out-band is completed, it is possible to periodically or intermittently perform the in-band communication in a power transmission phase to detect a swap of the wireless power reception apparatus.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for performing foreign object detection in a wireless power transfer system. The present specification discloses a method comprising receiving a digital ping from the wireless power transmitter; transmitting an identification and configuration packets to the wireless power transmitter; transmitting a foreign object detection (FOD) state packet which indicates a reference Q factor of the wireless power receiver to the wireless power transmitter; and receiving wireless power through magnetic coupling from the wireless power transmitter based on the foreign object detection result of the wireless power transmitter using the reference Q factor. Irrespective of individual characteristics of a wireless power receiver, accuracy and reliability of detecting a foreign object may be improved.

The present specification discloses a wireless power transmission apparatus comprising: a communication/control unit configured to perform negotiation on a first available power index with a wireless power reception apparatus; and a power conversion unit configured to create magnetic coupling of a primary coil according to the first available power index, and transmit power wirelessly to the wireless power reception apparatus. The wireless power transmission apparatus can properly adjust an available power index in a dynamic manner at a time point desired by itself according to a surrounding environment/situation, and leadingly initiate communication and authentication.
