Abstract: A mobile terminal and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. A pen type input device includes a wireless communication unit, an image recognition unit configured to obtain a pattern image displayed on a writing surface and recognize encryption information included in the pattern image, an operational sensor configured to sense a movement, and a controller configured to generate input information based on the movement sensed by the operational sensor, encrypt the input information based on the encryption information, and transmit the encrypted input information to an external device through the wireless communication unit.
