    Abstract: Disclosed are a mobile terminal capable of checking and managing places which a user has ever visited easily and conveniently, by generating navigation history information based on place-based data detected from a server corresponding to a user account, and a method of controlling the same. The mobile terminal includes: a communication unit; a display unit configured to display map data; and a controller configured to access a server through the communication unit, to detect place-based data corresponding to a user account from the server, to generate navigation history information by registering the detected place-based data to the map data, and to display the navigation history information on the display unit.
